We had a job for repairing some older boards with large PTH packages and this unit would have the solder molten in moments. The number on the bottom designates the maximum temperature. So the tip in the unit has a"7" on it and max's out at 700F. The other 3 New tips all are 900F, so be ready as they heat up quick. We have also treated the unit with Weller Cooper Tools"Anti Seize" paste, since the unit gets so hot and is usually used for Large Jobs.
