Detroit Torch Mfg. Co. was making torches for home and industrial use since the early 1900's and still is producing popular. High quality torches in Detroit, Michigan today. I found this torch under about an inch of dust in the basement of an estate sale. The man selling his father's house said it was his grandfather's. Although you can still smell the kerosene that was left in the tank(probably since the early 1940's) This torch is not now in working condition due to rusting of the steel adjustments. The original lacquer on the brass is unevenly stained and the original label is now hard to read(partly due to the yellow paint that identified the old man's tools. It can be polished if you prefer. Included is the soldering iron that fits on the top of the torch where it was heated in the flame until hot enough to melt lead ... morefor soldering. Note that although the handle looks like wood.
