Nice brass body Wizard type 2T0 magneto made by the Hercules Electric Company. It is all there except for the name band. Springs and rollers. Front and rear bearing plates have been bored to clean. Part of a new armature shaft has been started. It needs finishing and rewinding. Brass body is in great shape, spring arms aren't tweaked and has no stripped bolt or screw holes. Model 1949(as embossed on the back, along with the company name and location) dated 3-53(as stamped on back) Matte green metal base, clear plastic directional dial, soft plastic green cover, and green woven canvas strap with metal buckle and metal tip. Compass is about 1 1/2" in diameter; short strap with buckle is about 2" long; long strap is about 12" long. Weighs about 3 oz. Compass is in good overall condition and working order- the red arrow indeed points north and the dial turns as it should. Cover closes securely. Strap stitching is secure at the compass body. Here's a complete Tesla No. 30 Magneto Electric Machine in its original box. Condition is very good to excellent throughout. With nice original paint still on the casting, undamaged gearing, a straight handle, original electrodes with original wire leads and wood caps, etc. The box retains about 60% of its original paper label, which is quite fragile but still viable and still legible. The box is complete, with its original lid, but portions of the upper lip, into which the lid slides, have chipped off. It looks great ... morenonetheless, and it's not often that you encounter one of these ancient gadgets in its original packaging. Wire leads are still supple, and the gearing is turned easily with the crank. That's about it. I'll pack everything carefully and make sure that it arrives safely. Original Vintage WWII US Army Corps of Engineers Superior Magneto Field Compass
No Reserve! This is a very nice all-original vintage World War II era pocket compass manufactured by Superior Magneto Corp. for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Made of black-painted metal. It has a brass loop on one end for attaching to a belt or other gear. With the brass loop, it measures just over 3-3/4" long. The actual compass diameter is 2" There is a hairline crack in the glass covering the compass and the black paint shows some wear in spots; otherwise it is in excellent and all-original condition.
