A rooster can be six to seven ... morepounds in weight. A hen will be around five to six pounds. This breed is a dual purpose breed that is used for eggs and meat alike. It is best suited for egg production though. It can handle about 250 eggs in the course of a single year. The eggs are especially unique. The chicken will produce eggs that are often blue or green in color. However. A few are light brown. Shipping time will depend on how many buyers are before you. We don't collect until after payment is received. To get your name in line. Its best to make payment as soon as possible. May take up to a week to ship. Eggs are always shipped fresh(collected within a day of mailing them out) We have two roosters/six hens in each coop to up the chances of fertility(god willing) Though. They are all 11 months ... moreold and were purchased as hatching eggs and are from GREENFIRE/ BEV DAVIS lines.The hens are laying 4-5 eggs a day at the moment so freshness is not an issue. We check for eggs 6 to 8 times a day and store them in a tempature controlled room until ready to package for shipment. They are kept on egg turners. These eggs are packaged very well that we believe not even the meanest of mailmen can damaged but do realize that the post office can play a part in hatch rates. Ginger alone in the phoenix breed is something only 2-3 peopel in the USA have. It is an extremely rare gene which makes pretty much an all white male bird with a black tail. The hens look similare to a silver duckwing hen just with a white breast. Now add in the blue gene which turns all the black feathers blue and you do have a truely beatiful and rare color in the phoenix not just in the USA but anywhere. The blue gene is very rare in all long tailed fowl so do miss you chance if you have been looking to add it into your breeding program. These lines both have some of the extremely rare German Ismer line's phoenix blood in them as well, which gives them a stance and type seen in no US stock lines! These pictures used were taken last spring when the birds were less than a year old. They have really come into good feathering this year and drag the ground all the way around!
