Description Reduced again in our February sale. This pair of antique circa 1900 or earlier Indian or Tibetan(Indo-Chinese) cups are hand worked in scraps of low grade silver(not tested but solid white metal when cut into) The bowls are made up of joined sections with applied foot rims of traditional ancient form with flared rims. They are crudely hand worked with lotus Mons, foliate borders to the bottom of the bowl and foot, with Swastika border to the rim. These lovely old pieces are unmarked and they are in good condition with no damage or repair. The insides need polishing and have old patination mainly to the joints. You are bidding on a stunning Victorian silver plated egg cup stand with 6 cups made by Walker& Hall of Sheffield England dating from circa 1880 or earlier. The tray has the mark used by Walker& Hall between 1861 to 1890. It measures 9 1/2" by 5 3/4" and it's 7 1/2" tall with the handle. The cups are 2 1/2" tall. There is some nice details on the rim and shell handles. Unfortunately one egg cup is missing the handle. I have the 6 six original pins for the egg cups but 2 of them are missing the locking nut. The condition is otherwise very good with no denting or repairs. There is some light wear to the plating of the tray as shown in our pictures. The spoons that came with it are by Wm. The cups are white inside and Cobalt outside. One of the cups has a tiny chip at the rim with a hair line running down the side to the bottom. Seems to be very tight and strong. This is a beautiful set! The design is golden peacocks(Attached are pics of the Peacock design that I held under a light so that you can see the gold.The dogwood flowers are also trimmed in gold. All the rims of cups and lids are also trimmed in gold. I do not know how old this set is. I have had it for about 20 years and belonged to my Grandmother for an unknown amount of years. This one is a Murray Solar Flight, their version of the trending theme of the times. Jetsons. Jet aircraft styling. Spaceliner, Spacelander, Flightliner, etc. Those truss rods and hardware are actually pretty good chrome that will clean to a better condition and shine pretty good. The truss rods stick out 10 inches in front, for reaching the stratosphere at rocket speed. Neighbors may complain of sonic booms. I always think of mounting dual lights up there, but that's just me.
