This SHEPHERD DM-170 DIGITAL LIGHT METER is in excellent lightly used condition. Close to mint actually. It has a red LED readout and is capable of measuring both incident and reflected light. I have no instruction manual but none is really needed if you have a basic knowledge of photography. You set the film speed on the inner dial. Slide the dome on the front to the correct position to measure either incident or reflected light and push the button on the side to measure. There will be a number in the LED readout(between 0 and 20) which is the EV or exposure value. You then rotate the outer wheel so the orange arrow points to the orange number matching the EV. Then read the aperture(f-stops) and shutter speeds off the appropriate scale. A fresh 9 V alkaline battery is included. Here is an Antique pocket volt meter from the Eldredge Electrical Mfg. Co. of Springfield. Mass. It has a patent date on it of Nov. 8, 1898. It has been put into a watch case and has a glass cover and metal back. It measures 2" in dia. There are no cracks or chips in the glass. The case has a small dent in the back. It looks like it has tarnish spot on the back but it is a reflection on the photo. It measures D.C. voltage and the scale runs from 0 to 3 volts in.1 volt increments. It works OK. Once in awhile the needle sticks and you have to tap it. I think this would make a great addition to your collection of antique volt meters or use it measures the strength of your AA and D cells. When the charger is connected and the battery is charged. Press the power button and you can hear a very quiet whine of a capacitor charging up. As far as I understand there is a flyback converter or simmiler circuit used to generate a 12 volt source from the 6 volt battery. The capacitors fail and it quits functioning. Anyway.
