Title sumz it up and its hermetically sealed inna copper MO-127 12-pin metal PowerDIP package. The Apex PA03 has been ohm'd out with no shorts appearing and is sold as guaranteed good. The device is socketed to the main board so it and the heatsink are removable as one unit. So the damned thing does not have to be unsoldered. The board actually has a number of useful parts on it besides the socket. GaAs MMIC I/Q Mixer/ IRM Chip. 22- 32 GHz Item is used. But fully funcional passive mixer. General description. Copied from the manufacturer's website: The HMC524 is a compact I/Q MMIC mixer which can be used as either an Image Reject Mixer or a Single Sideband Upconverter. The chip utilizes two standard Hittite double balanced mixer cells and a 90 degree hybrid fabricated in a GaAs MESFET process. All data shown below is taken with the chip mounted in a 50 Ohm test fixture and includes the effects of mil diameter x 20 mil length bond wires on each port. A low frequency quadrature hybrid was used to produce a 100 MHz USB IF output. This product is a much smaller alternative to hybrid style Image Reject Mixers and Single Sideband Upconverter assemblies.
