I have this Powerstat varible transformer. Made by the superior electric co. In conn. It is a recent estate find. I tested this powerstat with a lathe. I also tested it by plugging in a light/lamp. Everything is in good working order. It is used. And it is a bit dirty from the shop it was in. It is in good overall conditio. Up for auction is a vintage good working condition Powerstat varible speed autotransformer. It is made by the superior electric company in Bristol conn. It is working fine. I tested it on a lathe and a light. It is a model 3pn116B. see picture# 2 for further item specifics) out side of the dirt. Scratches, dents and dings; there is a minor issue with the rubber outer casing of the electric cord. see picture#4) Where the cord enter the housing the cords outer casing is spit. The electric wires are still in good shape, there is no exposed wiring, and there is no shorts. I think this is an easy fix, But I don't think it is a neccesary fix. This was probably owned/used by someone who definitely knew what they were doing and had a good use for this device. The mount fixture appears to be made of 2024T3 plate at roughly.25" thick. This is a MOTORIZED! Superior Electric 60MC126U Powerstat in great condition. It has built in limit switches to adjust the maximum and minimum output. Presently they are set for full limits in each direction. This unit is controlled by placing 120 V onto the specific contacts. To control the unit you place the neutral from a 120 V line on terminal one. And apply the 120 V hot wire to terminal 2 or 3 depending on which direction you wish to go. If it has reached it's end of travel as set by the cams which trigger the limit switches, it will only move in the reverse direction. This has been cleaned, reconditioned, and lubricated. While it was being reconditioned I removed the rotor and took pictures so you can see how clean this unit really is. This is really an important thing to see on these because it will show any wear. It has two sections, each one rated at 22 amps/ 3.2 kVA at 120V in and 0-140V out at 50/60hz. Please see the photos for physical condition of this item. It shows normal wear and tear use, nothing excessive. You can see that the windings are in good condition and that there is plenty of meat left on the brushes. I've replaced the old steel spacer hardware with new hardware, a bakelite insulator was cracked and replaced with black FR4 as shown in the photos. One alignment pin was replaced with a new pin. Description: You are bidding on a vintage Powerstat Variable Autotransformer. Made by the Superior Electric Co. of Bristol, CT. It has a dial on the top which adjusts the voltage. And a single 3-prong outlet on the front from which to gain output. It has a Simpson segmental voltmeter built into the front of the case. I have tested the unit using a digital voltmeter. And the variable output range seems to be approximately 114Vac to 129Vac. Condition: I have tested it. And the unit seems to be in good working order overall. I did notice that the built-in Simpson voltmeter seems to read a couple of volts lower on the output than my digital volt-meter was reading, so please be aware if your application requires precision. The unit has some minor scuffs and scratches. But is in good cosmetic condition overall. The original 3-prong plug-head has ... morea sort-of cardboard face to it. Powerstat Variable Transformer Superior Electric Company With Volt/Ampere Gauges
This was purchased with a large lot of ham radio equipment. Just never got around to listing it till now. As shown it looks like it functions, but I cannot make any guarantees. Plugged in and the lights work, the motor hums, and one Voltmeter kicked up. Thats all I know. Please ask questions before bidding and I will answer them to the best of my ability.
