It also has a sticker by the on/off switch stating that it was manufactured under the following patents, so it might be an earlier 10 amp model. I replaced the fuse, plugged it in and it works! Although it's difficult to capture the differences in lighting with my camera phone, if you look at the light bouncing off the wall you can see that the output has clearly changed. Up for auction is a vintage good working condition Powerstat varible speed autotransformer. It is made by the superior electric company in Bristol conn. It is working fine. I tested it on a lathe and a light. It is a model 3pn116B. see picture# 2 for further item specifics) out side of the dirt. Scratches, dents and dings; there is a minor issue with the rubber outer casing of the electric cord. see picture#4) Where the cord enter the housing the cords outer casing is spit. The electric wires are still in good shape, there is no exposed wiring, and there is no shorts. I think this is an easy fix, But I don't think it is a neccesary fix. This is a MOTORIZED! Superior Electric 60MC126U Powerstat in great condition. It has built in limit switches to adjust the maximum and minimum output. Presently they are set for full limits in each direction. This unit is controlled by placing 120 V onto the specific contacts. To control the unit you place the neutral from a 120 V line on terminal one. And apply the 120 V hot wire to terminal 2 or 3 depending on which direction you wish to go. If it has reached it's end of travel as set by the cams which trigger the limit switches, it will only move in the reverse direction. This has been cleaned, reconditioned, and lubricated. While it was being reconditioned I removed the rotor and took pictures so you can see how clean this unit really is. This is really an important thing to see on these because it will show any wear. It has two sections, each one rated at 22 amps/ 3.2 kVA at 120V in and 0-140V out at 50/60hz. Please see the photos for physical condition of this item. It shows normal wear and tear use, nothing excessive. You can see that the windings are in good condition and that there is plenty of meat left on the brushes. I've replaced the old steel spacer hardware with new hardware, a bakelite insulator was cracked and replaced with black FR4 as shown in the photos. One alignment pin was replaced with a new pin.
