It seems that eveyrone agrees that the Matilija Dam should come down, but in an example of negative inertia, it hasn’t been removed yet. Somebody clearly thinks it’s time:

It’s not clear who painted the scissors on the dam, but it’s graffiti the Underground can live with.
(via the L.A. Times)

It is brilliant commentary on the process as well as a beautiful piece of graffiti. How did they get the scissors to be so symmetrical? A big template?
I’ll make another shameless plug for my dam removal concept. I know I’m flogging this permanently lethargic equine but this dam project just aches for such a commercial and patriotic solution.

I agree. I attempted to comment on that blog post of yours on two occasions, both times the comments simply disappeared (perhaps Google decided I was spamming you).
As someone who, as a child, was heavily influenced by movies like “633 Squadron” I can only support speedy, cost-effective aerial dam removal techniques.

Spam? Your comments? Nah, not likely. Possible, but not likely.

Yes, bring back the spinning, skipping, dam buster bomb! Maybe we can get Cleanrite or Stanley Steemer to sponsor the project.

Wellll,Peter Jackson(movie guy and Old Plane Geek) is suppose to be re-making “The Dambusters”…Why CGI when the real thing is available? He can do the Elwha dams too…Sell tickets, bobbleheads, whatever to offset the cost of flying in a Lanc and go for it…..
