This is from what i can tell a very rare slide rule and one that was produced in very small numbers for a short space of time for Military use only. I found a couple in poor condition being discussed in blogs etc but have no idea what its worth? It is made very well and is constructed of cream/ white celluloid on Pear wood and made by J.H.Steward. Ltd. of 406 Strand London. The name is the"The M.T.Slide Rule" and this example not only has the original shammy leather pouch it was sold/issued with but also the original paper instructions for use/ receipt. The opening statement on the instruction page states" The M.T.Slide Rule has been designed by an officer of the staff college for Rapid solution of problems of veihcle movement by one setting on the rule" The upper surface has what looks to be map scales around its edge, ... more1/100,000 metre, 1/100,000 miles, then written 1/4" = 1 mile metre, 1/4"= 1 mile. the slide seems to convert miles to KM. The slide rule then has a reverse face that is marked to show veihcle movements, number of veihcles per column, number per mile, speed of the column in miles per hour and the time taken to pass any given point. The rule is working and sliding very well with no damage or repauirs and the information sheet/ receipt is original not a copy, this is a 100% authentic set and its got to be a very rare slide rule, actually looks hand engraved as well? This is almost in new condition and is totally untouched and has an original patina but still looks good. Comes from an old estate collection that I have been slowly listing, look closeley at the images as they form a valuable part of the description and the item is sold as viewed. This is a political cartoon glass magic lantern slide. Black and white, reading, I'll never rest til' we build a canal from the harbor to Los Angeles to San B'dno. You'll get awful tired. Goodcell as a Chamber of Commerce member. Rex Goodcell(1880- 1968) was admitted to the bar in 1901, was elected District Attorney of San Bernardino County in 1910 and in 1918 was elected a Judge in the Superior Court in San Bernardino County. Whoever put out this series of four slides must have been running against Goodcell. Magic Lantern Slides are one of the best untapped resources for antique photographs there are. Slides were usually discarded after a relatively short period of use so are difficult to find. This is a photographic glass magic lantern slide. Beautifully colored, labeled, Panama California Exposition. Plaza de Panama, Sacramento Cos. Bldg. at N. End. Here is one source on Google about this area, There is one well-defined transverse axis which, crossing the main axis, creates the Plaza de Panama. This plaza is surrounded by arcaded buildings, the Sacramento county's building in the place of honor, while at the other end of the plaza is the music building in which the large organ is housed. This building is most unfortunate architecturally, and, more the pity, is permanent. The Panama–California Exposition was an exposition held in San Diego, California, between March 9, 1915, and January 1, 1917. The exposition celebrated the opening of the Panama Canal, and was meant to tout San Diego as the first U.S. port of call for ships ... moretraveling north after passing westward through the canal. The fair was held in San Diego's large urban Balboa Park. Magic Lantern Slides are one of the best untapped resources for antique photographs there are.
