We have several Occupational Mugs at the moment and this is an auction ... morefor another one of this group. This one is another personalized piece. Hand painted with a scene that suggests a bar or saloon. Part of the scene is a large cabinet that appears to hold a barrel. Two other barrels are standing. Four men are shown in the shop, one is clearly a clerk standing behind the counter, showing his wares, which look like cigars, to a customer. The other two may be both customers, as they are not dressed as the clerk is, in white. One of them is holding a glass. It is a fun, folksy scene to peruse. The mug is stenciled in gold with the owner's name. Henry Jansen. The china is without breaks or chips or cracks. The gilt is worn. It measures approx. 3.625" tall. 4.25" wide across the handle and 3.375" in diameter. The bottom has a red splotch and a 1 2 incised in the china under the glaze. Occupational Shaving Mugs are at the top of the list when it comes to barbershop collectibles. At the beginning of 1870’s most men owned a shaving mug at home or at his barbershop. The patrons thought it would aid in reducing the rashes caught from the barber but actually it was the unsanitary razors that caused the rashes. S

Tiffin Paulina Elegant Etched Glassware ~ 2 Yellow Topaz Sherbets/Cordials
Manufactured byTiffin. These sherbets/cordials are quite pretty and delicate looking. The color is what I would call a"topaz" yellow. There are five bows on each stem. At the end of the bows is some fringe. And garlands of roses connect each bow. A very fine"x" pattern extends out from the center of each bow, and in the middle of each of these is a tiny rose. One of the sherbets has a very tiny nick on the rim. But otherwise they are in very good condition. They measure 5 inches tall. And the bowl is 4 inches wide. I pack with plenty of bubble wrap. The second one is a orange and yellow gravy or a milk pourer. its wide at the bottom and goes thinner then widens out again at the top in the shape of a apple if your looking down at it. There is a spout and a handle. The bottom of the pourer and handle is yellow. The rest of it is orange. The third one is a pourer of some sort. It is pink with white spots.
