For Auction: Very sculptural vintage mid century Italian compass style chair. Frame is ebonized oak. Seat is wicker and backrest is wicker wrapped. Chair is in good vintage condition but there are a few breaks in the wicker stands on the seat. Frame is very solid. The chair is marked"MADE IN ITALY HIK 41 478" under seat. Designer is unknown but this is an outstanding example of Italian modernist design(general consensus seems to be that it is closest to Gio Ponti design) Chair measures 28 3/4" tall, width 21" seat height 17 1/2" As fragile and light-weight as this beautiful chair is, I would highly recommend that it be shipped via Greyhound. For your consideration is one(1) extremely rare vintage 1950s PAUL McCOBB protoype of the iconic origami fiberglass chair in a lovely salmon/peach orange color. Please note that the chair's color is more peach/salmon(see 5th pic) but appears brighter and more orange under indoor tungsten light. I was told by a mid century modern expert that this might actually be the only prototype of this kind and color ever made. But I'll leave it to the eventual buyer to assess the photos and make your own determination. This is such a structurally beautiful and well-crafted chair that is emblematic of the space-age. Atomic design aesthetic of much of mid century modern furniture, and fiberglass is the perfect material for something that exemplifies the marriage of form and function. What makes this distinct from the other(also rare) origami fiberglass ... morechairs is the exposed rivets. Which can only be found on a handful of prototypes. Structurally sound and complete. With black leg gliders still intact, but as with most vintage chairs, it exhibits standard wear, particularly scratches and some oxidation and rust on the legs, which can probably be removed with steel wool and the proper cleaner. Small chip on the back, but it does not detract from the beauty of this chair and can really only be seen from the back and some surface crazing near the bolts on the seat. This vintage piece came out of a home in Denmark and clearly was a take on the Hans Wegner Papa Bear ottoman/ stool. It is a cool design with its minimalist lines and would make an nice compliment to any Danish modern chair/ décor. The piece is constructed out of solid teak(handles and legs) with black leather like vinyl upholstery. It is supported by 4 teak taper legs which will unscrew for shipping. If the seat color is not for you. This is a very simply DIY upholstery project that you can do in about 15 min with any style/ color fabric of your choice and a staple gun. measurements 21" wide by 11 5/8" deep by 15" high at the sides(14.5" high in the middle) condition This shows a fair amount of age and ... morewear. So if you are looking for absolute perfection, its not for you. It sits solid and is very usable. The teak has a very nice aged patina that only decades of time can produce. Vintage original U hl TOLEDO Drafting chair with contoured walnut seat and backrest. The height is adjusted with a lever arm under the seat and seat height adjusts from around 24" to 29" high. It is in very good vintage condition with the original green finish which shows wear commensurate with age. This chair has the K.B. Elliott label but is made by the Toledo Metal Furniture company. Here's a very elegant vanity chair to use while dressing or putting on makeup. It is gold-tone metal with a vinyl seat cushion. The seat measures 17-1/4" high and is 13" in diameter. Backrest measures 22" from floor. The seat has been recovered with new white vinyl that has a leather look to it. There are scuffs and scratches to the gold paint all over the chair. Tama 1st Chair Drum Throne- Cycle seat- With Backrest!
Up for sale is a very comfortable Tama 1st Chair Throne Systems Motorcycle style(or Tractor style) seat with the Optional Backrest. The chair is in really great shape and the only reason I'm selling is it came with a used kit I bought and I already have a throne so no need for it. The base is double braced and is really solid. The chair is 100% adjustable going from 17" seat height to 23" The back is spring loaded adjustable to give you resistance as you lean back. All in all. It's a very nice and comfy chair. They came from the estate of an Englishwoman and there is evidence of(old) wormwood. I don't normally sell a lot of early furniture and I'm unsure if these are late 18th century or early 19th. But they are certainly old and I would say country made- they're not"fine. The wood has a honey color to it and I think it might be yew. There are little pegs on the bottom of the front legs, but not back. However, there may have been originally, because there are inner circles on the bottom of the rear legs. The seats are approximately ... more14 1/4" across the back, 17 1/2" across the front and 13 1/2" deep. In my opinion, the 38 1/2" tall chair on the right in the first photo is in very good condition. The 38" tall one on the left has some issues. The front bar around which the rush is woven is broken and has a sag as seen in the first photo. There is also an old repair to the center slat, shown in the last photo. You can see the line in the wood on the right of the slat. I'm happy to be as helpful as I can to anyone who wants to make their own arrangements to ship these chairs. I know that a UPS chair box costs $25 and will hold one chair and the size of the box makes shipping quite expensive.
