This original WWI Japanese Type 18 Murata Rifle Bayonet is in as found condition. It has pitting on all metal portions and is only in fair overall condition The 18 inch blade is in pitted condition with antique patina. It has a Japanese character on the right ricasso of the blade. The right side of the crossguard has the remnants of the Royal Chrysanthemum stamp. The crossguard and grip pommel are in fair condition covered by antique patina. The brown wood grips held by two screwbolts with oblong washers are poor condition with much signs of use. The bayonet catch mechanism is missing but the long spring is present There is no scabbard with this bayonet. Please see all the photos for condition prior to bidding. Japanese Type 13 Murata 1880 Bayonet This is a very fine example of a rare bayonet. The blade and the rest of the metal of the bayonet has a nice even bright finish. There is no rust. Pitting, or corrosion on the blade. The grips are fine except for two chips on the right side. The rifle spring works fine. There is a mum on the right side of the cross guard. Although it is lightly stamped, it is very visible in the pictures. This is a very clean, presentable, and a very rare example of the first bayonet to be developed in Japan. Very Scarce Japanese T-22 Murata bayonet, 1st variation!
I am offering a very scarce 1889 Japanese Type 22 Murata 1st variation bayonet in fine condition. The serial number on the end of the pommel is 16268. The blade is in very fine++ original condition and has not been sharpened. The barrel ring is true. It has a Chrysanthemum stamped into the right side of the crossguard and the#82 stamped in the side of the pommel. The grips are not cracked and show much original finish. The push button release works flawlessly. The original scabbard has very little bluing left and has two shallow dents on the left side but it does not effect the function of sliding the bayonet in and out of the scabbard. The excellent reference book“Bayonets of Japan” by Mr. Ray LaBar lists these 1st variation bayonets as“Very Scarce” as approximately 20K were made. I offer a 3 day return privilege. Good condition and guaranteed original Japanese Type 22 Murata bayonet that is the second style with long hilt and unique small grips. 10 ¾” blade has gray metal finish with a little scattered fine pitting and was never sharpened. Remaining metal finish is bright with some pitting. The mum on the right side of the guard has mostly worn away. Wood grips have a good tight fit and show some normal wear. Lock button functions fine. No scabbard present. An extremely rare bayonet that will make a fine advanced addition to your collection.

NICE JAPANESE BAYONET MURATA TYPE 22
This is a rare and seldom encountered example of a Japanese Type 22 Murata Bayonet. Type 1. It is mounted with a blade that measures 11 inches in length which remains in very nice condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The crossguard as well as the pommel have now developed a brown aged patina; nevertheless the lovely mum is still present on the crossguard. The very small wooden grips show wear, but do remain healthy and sturdy. The difficult to find scabbard is still present and although has a few dings along with some surface oxidation near the tip, does remain in nice, serviceable condition. Overall the Bayonet measures 14 inches in length.
