Antique Ritter branded X-ray tube measuring 11.5" with the aluminum anode attached. Also including the original bakelite protective sleeve. From a 1930's or 40's antique machine that took the same size tubes as the dental machines they made. Other machines I have had came with GE tubes in them and this one is the same size and looks similar. GE EL34 6CA7 JAPAN VACUUM TUBE WITH BOX - TESTS VERY STRONG
I am thinning out my tube collection of a few of the best tubes where I do not have full matched sets. This is one of my best 6CA7/EL34 tubes. This was tested on three testers. A B&K 606 which has a nice short test and emissions test along with standard merit. A Precision Instruments 10-12 which is the best mutual conductance test and also the most consistent of my testers, and an Eico 667 which has the best leakage test along with less consistent but generally good merit tests. Merit test pass values(anything above is good) is 65+ on B&K. 53+ on Precision Instruments, and 80+ on Eico. Passed all emissions. Leakage and short tests. Merit values found on B&K was 86, on Precision Instruments was 72, on Eico was 138. All tests very good. I also had this tube tested by TCTubes.com whose Amplitrex tester determined iP if 122. GE VT-4-C Vacuum Tube 211 for Audio Amplifier
This item is a GE VT-4-C also known as a 211 triode vacuum tube used in audio amplifiers. It has a nice large shiny flash getter and the insulators inside appear very clean. I don't know if this tube was ever used. And I do not have the original box. It was tested with 10 volts filament, 400 VDC plate voltage, and the grid was tied back to one end of the filament. The tube plate current was measured as 90 ma. Further testing was done by reducing the filament voltage to 8 volts, and the plate current dropped by a very small amount. It is a nice tube. I guarantee you will not be disappointed in them. I have 25 pairs and these are hard to find. I don't know when I will get more of these so get them while you can. The 12a-7 series was very diverse. There are many variation of this popular dual triode package. The 5965 is the ruggedized MIL spec or Industrial heavy duty version of the 12AV7 tube. This tube when installed has a gain ... morefactor of 47 on each triode. This is about half of a 12AX7 which is 100. There are other characteristics regarding this tube that are pertinent but I don't have time to discuss here. But this tube when plugged into most circuits of guitar amps will give about half the gain of a 12ax7. So if you are looking for less drive, a cleaner sound with more headroom this tube may be helpful. I like to play around with my amps by substituting different 12a-7 series tubes to see what kind of sound I can get out of my amp. It is a lot of fun. The 5965 differs from the 12av7 in one way that should be noted. The 12av7 gain factors are 37 on one triode and 41 on the other. While the 5965 is a balanced 47 on each. So if you need a tube in a stereo situation where both half's have to be balanced a 12AV7 will not be a good choice, but a 5965 will. In addition the 5965 makes a great low cost alternative to the very expensive 12AY7. It is a bout the same gain. Is great in tone, low microphonic becasue of the stable side getters, and is about 1/3 the cost. One caveat is that it does draw about 50% more heater current than the 12AY7. But this is not generally a problem becasue the designer
