Vintage Military Army Signal Corps 1950's Desk Set Telephone
This is a 1950's U.S. Army Signal Corps Telephone TP-6-A. This nomenclature is on the rear of the base and also includes the Order Number and the contractor's name"Conn. Tel and Electric Corp" Also included is the wiring diagram on the bottom. Also. On the bottom, is a date stamp in very lite red"Nov 51. The telephone has been previously modified to include a modern cable with a RJ 11 connector to connect a modern house telephone jack. The telephone dials correctly and has good sound quality in send and receive. It has ringer bells but they are not functional. The actual maker of the telephone is unknown. When looking at the inside(photo 7) the layout is very similar to the Bell System 302 telephone. The base surface is very clean with minor chips, scratches and rubs. There are four or five more noticeable scratches ... morethat can be seen in the fifth photo. The cable at the handset is showing some drying out and breaks to the rubber. It was written in conjunction with the 1933 Worlds Fair. Century of Progress and is a very readable history of communication up through the early 1930's. General Squier was head of the Signal Corps during and after WW I and tells the story from his unique perspective. There are 163 pages. all in exc condition. The covers and spine are tightly attached. Some very minor browning/foxing on the fly leaf and back page and a stain on the back cover. A good addition to any radio collectors book shelf. Vintage U.S. Army TS-497B/URR Signal Corps Generator
Here we have a Vintage U.S. Army TS-497B/URR Signal Corps Generator Because I am not sure how to use it my testing is limited. It powers up and I have displayed it in the photos switched on and Off. as you can see as I turned the knobs needles started to move. The large knob just requires an Allen key( hex Key) to tighten the grub screw on the stork. the dial moves just need tightening on. Please see pictures for cosmetic condition Because I have no idea what it does or how to use it I can only confirm it powers up and stuff happens to the needles when I turn them. Other than that I have no idea what I am doing. I am therefor selling it AS IS with NO RETURNS and starting the bidding low. I have seen these sell for nearly 300 dollars. Thanks for looking.

This is a US Army Signal Corps SCR-57(BC-10) Airplane Interphone unit(the first airplane interphone built) And was used in conjunction with the SCR-68(BC-11) Radio Receiver/Transmitter, both of which were produced by Western Electric Co. Inc. The airplane interphone unit was essentially a portable intercom switching station which allowed the pilot to communicate with his gunner or observer during flight. Or switch to communicate with the ground. These units were made of sturdy oak construction, with all solid brass hardware and fasteners, and contain condensers, coils, wiring, and a tray for batteries, which supplied the current for the carbon microphones in the headsets. The boxes measure approximately 10-3/8" x 6-3/8" x 2-5/8" These interphone units were first used on the Curtiss JN-4"Jennies" during World War I. ... moreThere were a total of 3978 Type SCR-57 Airplane Interphones produced as of November 11. 1918. As well as a rough texture. The brass hardware and fasteners range from yellow and bright, to somewhat tarnished, to a verdigris patina in a couple spots. Historic “BC-348-Q” Army Signal Corps Radio Receiver Package
The package includes the BC-348 receiver. Outboard power supply, external speaker box and maintenance manual. This was my father’s rig. As a radioman on a Navy tin can during the Korean war. He subsequently became a ham enthusiast. As reflected by the gear in his little basement radio shack, he was a dedicated“tube” man. He often touted this rig(along with a Collins TCS-12 transceiver) to be some of the best gear he ever worked with; powerful, dependable, and straight forward. They were his pride and joy. History wise. This unit was the“standard bearer” for WWII airborne receivers. As reported by the gentleman who sold this piece to my father; this particular receiver was salvaged from a B-17 Flying Fortress from the 19th Bombardment Group during a Philippines deployment; badly damaged on the ground in an air attack(though he did not know ... morethe particular aircraft involved) As you can see by the pics. For it’s approximate 70 year age, this set is in outstanding original condition. My dad regularly used this gear until his passing some years ago. Like all his equipment, these pieces were meticulously maintained for top performance. I’ve personally checked all tubes for minimum“good” on my Heathkit tester and gently powered this set up on a variac over a 24 hour period. The operation of radio gear is not my forte though, so I had a“Hammer” friend run this rig through it’s paces. He checked it out on a couple of different antenna arrays and all components worked well(I got to listen to it for a few minutes, pretty cool) There is a ton of info about this gear on the net. Both historic and technical, so I will not bother to list all the pertinent data here. But the basics; These radios are single conversion types with two RF stages, a local oscillator, a mixer, three IFs, BFO, detector, and audio output and mixer stages, an audio amplifier stage, a detector, and BFO. Vintage Bendix WWII US Army Signal Corps Radio Receiver BC-639-A Type R 3052 A
Description: Bendix 1940's WWII US Army Signal Corps Radio Receiver BC-639-A Type R 3052 A. Click to view in a new window. The BC-639A is a ground based AM VHF receiver covering the nominal frequency range of 100-156 m/cs. The set was built for the U.S. Army Air Force in WW2 as part of a communication system to communicate with aircraft. The matching transmitter is BC-640. A system of similar intent was built in Australia during WW2 by Radio Corporation of Victoria(ASTOR) With the addition of FM facilities. This system used the ARl7 receiver and ATl7 transmitter. Many of the sets had been modified after the war by the then Dept of Civil Aviation for use as monitoring receivers. The mods included work on the front end to improve performance and modification of the audio output stage to allow a low impedance loudspeaker to be used for local ... moremonitoring. When used with a suitable outside antenna. The receiver performs quite well, with very strong aircraft signals being received without difficulty. The BC-639 is a single conversion superhetrodyne. With a 12 m/cs IF, continuously tuneable over the above frequency range. The receiver shares many of the components found in the 4 channel crystal locked airborne BC-624, which is the receiver of the SCR522 equipment. A CW oscillator is provided. Three 6SG7's provide the IF gain. Whilst provision is made for local or line audio output. Rectifier Unit RA-42-A supplies 2l0vdc and 6.3vac to operate the set. Mains input is selectable 117/240vac. An"S" meter is provided to ascertain the signal strength of incoming aircraft transmissions. Additional Sources: Condition: Used- no major dents. Dings or scratches. This is an original American made 1944 dated set that was reworked by the French as you can see by the French labels. But still has the original data plate on the cover. This is an original WWI World War One U.S. Army Doughboy Signal Corps Uniform Tunic Jacket& Breeches. All buttons in place except one on the jacket and Signal Corps collar insignia is on the collar as shown. Jacket has no moth holes at all breeches have a few as shown in the pictures. Lining perfect in the jacket. No lining in breeches. No mothball smell either! All in all very good shape for almost a hundred years old. Thank you for looking and bidding!
