UP FOR SALE IS A VINTAGE FAIRBANKS MORSE MAGNETO TYPE FMJ. 4B11, SERIAL NUMBER 2183049. IT WAS REMOVED FROM AN ALLIS CHALMERS WC TRACTOR THAT WAS CONVERTED TO BATTERY IGNITION. WITH THE IDEA OF MAYBE GONG BACK TO THE MAGNETO IGNITION I DID AN ABBREVIATED VERSION OF A REBUILD BY INSTALLING NEW POINTS, CONDENSER AND A COIL. HOWEVER AFTER BEING SATISFIED WITH THE BATTERY SYSTEM I DECIDED NOT TO GO BACK TO THE MAGNETO. NOTE. What you are buying: I bought these items at an estate sale. I have no way of checking them for function and can just describe them as I see them. I have not removed any covers or cases to see what is in the inside or what the inside looks like. I have not cleaned on them except to brush off a data plate to make it readable. They are offered as I found them. I have pointed out the problems that I can see, but that may not be all that is wrong with them. I have taken a lot of good photos for you to view for evaluating what you will be bidding on. Please buy these as'donors' to be used for parts that you may need and knowing that they probably do not work. Thanks. This auction is for a Fairbanks& Morse RV4 magneto. My research found that this mag was used on some Allis Chalmers and Massey Harris tractors in the late 1920's ... moreto mid 1930's. I do not know what else it may fit. I have rotated this mag CW by hand and got a short yellow spark from all 4 distributor ports. The previous owner had written on it: very good" The only thing I see wrong externally with this mag is the chipping and breaking of the distributor ports as shown in the photos. The size of this mag is about 8" long X 7" high X 4 1/2" wide including the distributor piece. Look the photos over good so you will know what you are buying and again. Original Rare Early 1910- 1916 Fairbanks& Morse Company Jack Junior Type H Gas Engine 1 HP Hit& Miss Trucks. Have seen this truck used on the Fairbanks& Morse Type T 2 HP Vertical Engines also. See old F&M factory catalog photo at end of photo listings. Will work on other brands of engines up to 3 HP. Has solid steel axles. Cast iron front bolster is in good condition. The rear wood and U-bolts are missing. Rear axle has a pair on eye-bolts on it. This set has the the outer axle dust caps on front axle and inner and outer dust caps on rear axle. Cast Iron wheels are 12" in dia. with a 2 1/2" face. The face of the wheels are cast iron along with the hubs. One wheel has a welding repair and one has a crack across the face. See last 2 photos. No other cracks welds or repairs. Axles are 29 1/2" long. Has the original ... morehandle. Weight is 85 lbs. before packing. Will need to ship in two boxes. See Photos! This is an OLD- VINTAGE 1930'S- 1940'S- 19? FARM TRACTOR MAGNETO. It is as shown and is a FARM TRACTOR MAGNETO from an ALLIS CHALMERS TRACTOR- possible MODEL NUMBER: MODEL B- MODEL C- MODEL CA- MODEL WD- MODEL WC- or? It is marked: FAIRBANKS MORSE- TYPE FM- and is stamped with the numbers: J4 B3 and 260692. There is a paper label on the bottom. But it is unreadable! It is for a 4 CYCLINGER FARM TRACTOR ENGINE. I have no idea if it is in working condition or not, or if it is complete, so you be the judge! It does spin free! It is in used original condition with a lot of wear and paint loss, and it is grimy. You buy it for a very low opening bid AS-IS as described!
