Rare Vintage Automobile / Tractor Cast Iron Steering Wheel Suicide Spinner Knob
Up for bids is a very old cast iron and pressed steel steering wheel suicide spinner knob as pictured. These were used so you could steer your vehicle using just one hand. I know these were illegal in some states for driving unless you had a physical handicap and needed to use one. These were also very popular on farm tractors which made steering much easier on the old tractors. It still has most of its original white colored paint but the steering knob which was originally a red or maroon color only has a little paint left as pictured. It looks like it was used quite a bit and because it has some pitting on the knob I think it probably came off of an old farm tractor or car with an open top which would have spent more time out in the rain and snow than it would have if it would have been inside a car or truck with a roof. This oldie is approximately 19 by 16 inches and weighs around 14 lbs. It has been painted blue at some point and a little rust is starting to seep through the blue paint. Original CASE DC Tractor Cast Iron Screw-on Hub Cap Hubcap 1939-? NICE
Rare original Case threaded hubcap grease cover for the front wheels of a farm tractor. Made of heavy cast and machined iron with a painted finish. The J.I. Case Threshing Machine Co. was formed in 1844 in Racine. WI and manufactured many types of agricultural heavy equipment and even made cars in the teens and 20s. Online research indicates this type of cap was used on the DC series tractors made starting in 1939 but it may also fit other types of equipment. I do not know exact year, model, or application for this example. 4" wide by 1 7/8" high, 3 3/8" male threads. Very good used condition with no wrench marks or other damage and a nice clean finish. The paint is in very good shape but I do not know if it is original. The face with the Case block letter and sitting bird insignia emblem logo nameplate is very nice. Old Original Rare J. I. Case Company Tractor Implement Cast Iron Part Hit& Miss Engine. Nice original barn find Case part. It has the Case Eagle cast on front side and part#B242L cast on back side. Size 8 7/8" X 4 7/8" X 1/4" thick. It has mounting holes 3 3/4" x 7 7/16" on centers. The eagle is 7" tall overall. No cracks. Welds or repairs. See Photos! Cast Iron Oiler Lubricator for steam, HIT MISS engine tractor
This is a Detroit lubricator. This lubricator is 14 3/8 inches tall(with the plumbing shown in the pics) and the cylindrical oil container is 2 5/8 inches in diameter and 7 1/2 inches long. With the knobs. Overall width is 6 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches. The onion part is 2 11/16 inches wide and 4 3/4 inches tall. It weighs 7 pounds. Condition Description(from above) Used condition. Grimy. 14 day return. See pics. Sight glasses fine but dirty. No Dents or Scrapes. Bakelite handles in good condition. But one is missing part of its outer edge. See 1st pic. These lubricators supplied oil droplets in the steam to the cylinders of steam engines. Tractors, and locomotives. This kept the pistons lubricated.
