At least as far as I can understand it. I acquired a user's manual from Nagra, and was able to undo some of the switching modifications made by the previous owner, a recording studio. Before I did that, the machine would park when I put it in record mode. All buttons and swiches are functional. Except for the buttons to the left of and under the record/output window(these buttons are non-functional in the time-code version) I was able to play back a tape that I had. And in normal play mode the time code head was clacking away. In variable speed playback, it didn't do that. The time code head also ran when in record mode. The servo knob works. I couldn't figure ... moreout how to record a tape. It still played back in record mode. Although there are four switches on the logic board for three speeds and four standards. The“modify” button switches back and forth between only two speeds, 7 1/2 and 15 IPS. The upper warning indicators for phase lock and tape tension are on continuously during play mode. Indicating an error that should be checked. The lower, more dire warning flickers on tape tension, but on phase lock it is dark. In variable speed play mode, the upper indicator is on under phase lock(the manual says this is normal) but the upper indicator just flickers a little on tape tension, while the lower one remains dark. The user's manual is like a textbook. And would take months to be proficent. The deck seems to be customizable in endless ways. The heads have some wear on them. Please see the pictures. A cleaning and lube would probably go a long way. Remember: I'm not an expert on any subject. With regard to the equipment I sell. I am a full-time amateur and part-time idiot. My descriptions are simply accounts of my findings and observations while fumbling around with whatever contraption happens to come my way. They are not

My guess is that it's used to transfer the video signal of a camera or other device using the S-video plug or AV plug as the output or input. Three Datum 9100 Time Code Generators
These were donated by Datum to the school I was working at more than 10 years ago. They quickly determined that they did not want them and were going to throw them out so I got them because as the beginning of my electronics engineering career I worked designing equipment like this and knew the quality AND big $$ at the time. All appear to power up OK except the top unit has one LED that does not work. The top unit has a back plate missing and may be just a parts unit. The middle unit has a lot of BNC connectors so likely they have many different timing code outputs such as IRIG A. B, D etc but certainly has not checked but if all is OK then you get a very good deal. Nothing other than the power up has been checked. The bottom unit has a few BNC's as well but likely has parallel BCD time of day from the large connectors. This is an FAA Time Code Display/ Clock that has 6 Minitron displays. I spent a ton of money and replaced two of the displays with equivalent minitrons so all of the filaments on all of the digits work great(see photos. The device used to work great as a clock but recently stopped keeping time. The test button works but the display is blank otherwise. The GEN/XLATE switch is bent down. I think it can be popped back into place but I am afraid to pull on if for fear I may break it. This will need a standard power cord.
