Very cool and rare sign/clock. The clock works but I can't get the light to work. I'm not an electrician. Sign is 25 1/2" wide. 10" tall and 4 1/4" deep. Sign is from the mid 60's. This is an item of extreme historic value. There may be other Downey Johnson 20 PH counters on eBay. But none with this rich history behind it. This counter is the very counter used by Stan Williams of Williams Enterprises in southern IL. Williams Enterprises was one of the first and definitely the largest operators of arcade. Pinball, music and other coin op stuff in Illinois. Their route covered hundreds of miles and thousands of locations. I actually don't know their whole history. But I know that Stan Williams retired about 10 years ago, and then eventually sold the business to J& J Ventures in Effingham. When I was buying out all of their old parts, I came across this ancient wooden box. It turns out that this old thing is what Stan(or his father) used originally for route collections, WAY back in the day. Anyway. Up for auction is a nice Victoreen Instrument Company CDV-715 Model 1A Geiger Counter. Radiation Detector. This meter was manufactured for the United States Government, Office of Civilian Defense and distributed to cities and towns for use in radioactive fallout shelters during the 1950's and throughout the Cold War era. This unit came from Austin, Texas. It is very good to excellent condition. And it WORKS! It was last calibrated in 1986. It has some typical scratches for its age. The meter as a slight scratch by the top screw. Possibly some touch-up painting occurred on the metal edge. This is a nice and unique bell or gong. It is in the form of a dragon. And was made in China. Not sure of the original use. But thinking a desk or counter pc. The bell hangs from the dragon's mouth and hammer sits in a holder built into the tail of the dragon. The dragon bell holder screws into a base.
