Large Heavy Counter Display Jar Owens Illinois
Big. Heavy jar. Measures 14 3/4' X 12" X 5 3/4" weighs 10 1/2 lbs. The glass in the bottom is easily 3/4" thick. This jar is something of a mystery, I have looked and looked online and not found another like it. The mouth of the jar measures 4 1/2" it is threaded but I do not have the lid. I don't know what came in this jar but it was a lot of it; capacity is 2 1/2 gallons. Stands either upright of slanted. Owens Illinois mark on bottom did not take well and is a little hard to see. There is a 7 on the left, a 3 on the right and a 7 underneath. Overall condition is good. No cracks or chips, just some scattered light scratches to be expected of a piece of this type and age. The neon light on the top of the unit is a pilot light. It does not indicated radioactivity. The Model 117B had a 1.5” diameter x 1” sodium iodide crystal. Up for auction is a vintage Fish Hawk Model 530 Temperature. Digital Depth Counter, Lure Color Analyzer and Light Intensity Instrument MADE IN JAPAN in the'80s. This unit was only used a couple of times by my cousin who recently passed away. It comes with instructions and has a temperature range of 35 to 85 degrees and a depth capacity of up to 100' I remember fishing with him and using it on a big reservoir while fishing for lake trout. The way it works is you reel down the sensor(shown on the left in the photo) which is attached to the unit by a thin electrical cable. You can then turn on the temperature sensor and follow the temperature down and read the thermoclines that you encounter along the way.
