HICKOK 800A DYNAMIC MUTUAL CONDUCTANCE TUBE TESTER RECENTLY CALIBRATED
This is a very nice Hickok 800A. Which is the later and more desirable of the 800 series. The case is very presentable, though has some normal wear. The tester deck is quite nice and crisp detailing as you can see in the pictures. The electrical condition is excellent and has been recently calibrated and tests very close to my Dan Nelson calibrated TV7’s. In the pictures. You’ll see line voltage being set and then testing a 6L6(tube not included) T he roll chart moves well from end to end with the typical Hickok tightness at the either end. You’ll have to look long and hard to find another 800A in this nice condition and surely have to would pay much more. The 800A was purchased as a backup and since I don’t normally use it. Vintage Hickok model 605A VOM Mutual Conductance Tube Tester Parts or Repair
Hickok 605A Tube Tester and VOM. In good condition. Tubes are included and tested good. The unit can test tubes that don't use the octal socket. So it is working. The octal socket was replaced by a previous owner and was not wired in correctly. started work on pin 1 and 2. But the remaining pins need troubleshooting. The case is a bit worse for wear. But is functioning, it has been repainted to cover scars in finish. Cosmetic condition of the unit itself is good. This 605a tester also has a VOM section. I have not tested this, nor removed old batteries from bottom of case.the tube testing section is the same as a 600A or a 533A tester. Sold as/is as described for further attention and repair. I got this nice vintage Tube Tester from a recent estate. It was made by Precision Apparatus Co. of Glendale. NY and is Model 640 complete with instructions dated Feb. 1957. There is also an assortment of 18 tubes included. I plugged in the tester, selected a tube(Tung-Sol 1S5) for testing. The tester worked and the tube tested good. All tests were done with the correct shunt resistor to duplicate 1.000 Ohms/Volt Meter per Shoo Calibration Specifications. Picture 3 shows the AC signal voltage 2.409 SPEC is 2.5 +- 2 Picture 4 is the plate voltage of 152.6 SPEC is 150 +- 5 Picture 5 is the screen voltage of 130.5 SPEC is 130 +- 2 Picture 6 is the low screen voltage of 54.5 SPEC is 56 +- 2 Picture 7 is bias voltage at 100 which is-40.7 SPEC is-39 +- 2 Picture 8 is bias at 22 which is 3.149 SPEC is 3.3 +- 2 Picture 9 shows the filament voltage with the tube in the socket at 6.10 which there is no SPEC for in any Hickok manuals. But critical to ... moreget accurate test results. Many Hickok testers can be calibrated, but the heater voltage drops below 6 volts when a tube is in the socket causing inaccurate test results. Picture 10 shows a 6L6 calibration tube with Gm of 5475 being tested with accurate results. But does not line up with the 6K red dot on the shunt dial. The mark is at 86 1/2 and should be at 85 or a little above 85 as seen in picture 11. The 3000 mark should be at 31 as seen in picture 12, and the 15000 should be right on 93 as seen in picture 13. Close up pictures of the dial can be seen below as to where the dial should be marked for accurate calibration. No marks were made on the English/Shunt dial. But according to Hickok's calibration procedures, a new mark should be made on the dial for calibration. The marks are not very far off and any new marks made on the dial will be up to the buyer. The 5y3Gt is Hickok labeled and tests as good as new. And the 83 is a NOS JAN RCA, and both are well balanced. The tester has the original cord which is in great shape and pliable. MILITARY TV-2 C/U Tube Tester With custom plate current METER DESIGNED BY HICKOK. This tester is in excellent cosmetic and restored electronic condition. Do you have a Russian or German tube and can’t test them? Read on… This tester was rebuilt and recalibrated by C.G. Industries in Florida. A rebuild consists of replacing almost every part. Including any part that does not read exactly as it should. During the rebuild, all switches are cleaned and checked for contact alignment on wafers-an issue on many TV-xx testers) Once electrically restored. The calibration is fine-tuned and triple checked. This recalibrating includes full-scale verification of each meter and fine- tuning where and if possible before system calibration. Each meter is checked again against a Fluke 87 Mark III. Industrial multi-meter. As soon as the tester has passed recalibration, ... morea custom made, digital plate current meter is installed. This digital plate current meter gives the tester the ability to show plate current in milliamps at the same time that the percentage gm reading is given on the main meter. With no extra switching. Knowing the plate current is essential in matching tubes. The small. Digital meter is installed on the roll chart frame. A connect/disconnect fitting was added to the deck in the upper right corner of the tester so the meter can be disconnected if desired. Since the plate current meter is independent of the tube tester. It has no affect on gm percentage readings. In one of the photos above. One can see that the digital meter reads exactly what the external multi-meter reads for plate current for the tube under test. It measures true plate current(not from the cathode. And does not include the screen if the tube has one) It is a custom-made meter of high precision to 0.1% It is powered by its own independent power supply to eliminate any possibility of cross currents with the tester. Another rare bird here, a miniature tube tester by Electronic Measurements Corp. NYC, USA(New York City! She fired up(has no pilot lamp nor on switch) and with switches in position according to manual the tube under test lit. I tried the shorts test and neon bulb does come on when certain switches are pushed up in the"P" position. Pics show a 6V6 and a 6BQ5 I had lying around being tested for quality. Octal socket activated and worked fine when 6V6 was pulled up a smidge from the tube pushed down completely position. It must have had the most use. The 9 pin mini socket acted like new. Bakelite(I'm guessing) case has no cracks nor chips. 2 screws are securing the face plate to the case. Under the face plate are the tranny. 2 caps(50uF to the meter looks newer Japan, one hooked to shorts lamp needs changing(02 at 400V) and a potentiometer ... morethat does radically increase or decrease the meter readings. Has grid cap dual ended connector on very flexible wire. Orig power cord has 70% flexibility left. The tester could use a nice detailed cleaning. Meter will zero out(and go much above or below) with the zeroing screw. I will email a pdf attachment to the winner with a scan of the original 26 page manual with tube setup chart. VINTAGE 1930'S HICKOK DIAMOND POINT JUNIOR TUBE TESTER--LOOK!
You are bidding on a VINTAGE 1933 Hickok tube tester! This Diamond Point Jr. tester measures approx. 11 1/2" x 9" x 7" And has the serial number of 64167 on the back name plate. We had no way of testing this, but we did plug the tester in, and the needle on the bottom left hand side moved up to center. All the knobs and buttons seem to function and work. The cloth cord has a bad spot(wear/cracking) and should really be replaced. This does have some damage to the plastic round center plate(chip off the top and bottom edge) as you can see in the photo, and some wear on one side. Still overall good shape. Unbranded/Generic Ham Radio/Tube Tester Apparatus Electrical Thing-A-Ma-Bob
I do not know what this actually is but it works. It appears to be some type of tester and has places to hook wires to. It also appears to have been hand built and has two copies of the specifications inside the case. It is 115V and has a ham radio call sign on it(which is why I think it may be somehow related to that field) but for now. I'll call it a thing-a-ma-bob. All of the switches seem to work and all of the lights light up and flash. The case is old and the latches have to be worked manually but it closes well and does latch. It measures 14" long x 9 1/2" wide x 5 1/4" tall. Please feel free to enlighten me if you know what this is and does. Insert the numbered phenolic card indicated on the cross reference chart and the proper connections are made to test a 7 or nin pin miniature tube or an octal base test. Tests for shorts. Mutual conductance, life test, and gas by rotating four position swtch. Uses a 6AX5 tube and a 6AT6 tube to perform the mutual conductance test. Vintage Accurate Instruments Model 157 Tube Tester Working Well
For sale here is a tube tester from Accurate Instruments. Model 157. Includes tube chart for setting the tester for the various vacuum tubes most commonly encountered in TV. Radio, and Audio applications. I used this for several years and it is pretty reliable. Depending on the shape of the tube prongs you may have to occasionally rock the tube slightly on some sockets. Hickok B&K Tube Tester Parts-Replacement 83 Rectifier
Offered here is a modern day replacement for the type 83 mercury vapor full wave rectifier tube used in most Hickok and Military tube testers as well as the B&K 650 and 700 tube testers. They can reasonably be expected to last for the lifetime of the tube tester. In addition. The two diode sections are closely balanced to each other and should remain that way for the life of the tube tester. Most mercury vapor rectifiers age in an unbalanced fashion. When tested, one side is found to conduct better than the other. This unbalance affects the calibration of the tube tester. The 83 mercury vapor rectifier is the most problematic component in most tube testers. This substitute eliminates the problems common with that tube. This is a plug-in replacement for the glass 83 vacuum tube. Just remove your glass 83 vacuum tube and put this one in ... moreit's place. No other modifications required. One of the pictures show a good 83 glass tube being tested on a Hickok military TV-3 tube tester. The last picture shows the solid state replacement being tested on the same tube tester. In the same socket with the same settings. Since there are no tungsten filaments, this solid state replacement reduces the load on the tube tester's transformer and eliminates the heat generated by the glass original. In an unventilated case, the heat can build up when the tester is on the bench turned on for prolonged periods. No hot filaments in the modern version. If you need more than one. Here is a calibrated and fully working Jackson 715 tube tester in great condition. This unit has been recapped. Out of tolerance parts have been replaced and all sockets and controls were tested. Tube checker comes complete with copies of instruction manual, schematic, tube charts and supplements. This unit will test many antique and more recent tubes as evident by the tube sockets it has. This includes large base 4. 5, 6 and 7 pin tubes, Octals, Loctals, 7-pin miniatures(Novals) and 9-pin miniatures. The roll chart works great and has lots of tubes listed. Alas, the original 715 tube roll did not include the"modern" rock n' roll tubes like EL34(6CA7) EL84(6BQ5) and many newer audio tubes. To overcome this problem, I'm including a tube chart that has these tubes. Vintage Tube tester Accurate Instrument Co. Mod.157 Works good.
Here is a vintage Accurate Imstrument Co. Mod. 157 tube tester. I have taken photos of it testing several different tubes. I tested a 6Q7. 6C5, 6K7, 12BA6, and a 25L6. The readings came out comparable to a Hickock tester. I intentionally tested some different voltage tubes with different settings and tubes that have grid caps. I did not test all the sockets, so I sell this with no garantee and AS IS. The book included is worn and appears to be missing the front and back covers, but seems to be very readable and complete as far as a tube chart goes. The page shown in the one photo is the in the worst condition. I do not have a manual. I did however, when testing the tubes, simply looked up the tube, made the settings, pluged the tube in, turned the tester on, and as the tube warmed up, the meter gave a reading. There is no test button to push) ... moreYou always want to set the voltage first before plugging a tube in to be tested. I see listed on ebay a couple of different manuals for this instrument. I would probably pick one up if I bought this. I would like to also mention that this instrument was apparantly in a damp place, so the latch and hinges have rust. Description This is a vintage Hickok model 600 tube tester. Condition It's in untested original condition. It appears to be complete. The case is coming apart. And the roll chart is a little ragged. There is a dent/scuff on the face of the meter scale(presumably the glass was broken and replaced sometime in the past) The meter movement appears intact, but there are no guarantees. For your consideration, I have a NO RESERVE auction for an exact Home Brew copy of a Military MX-949 A/U tube tester adapter/modernizer for the Military I-177 tube tester. This adapter is an exact copy. I made it several years ago out of spare parts(mostly Military spec) to match an I-177/MX-949 combo I had purchased in mint condition(was advertised as possibly being brand new old stock) and I wanted to save the MX-949 as it was. This is an exact copy but for the cosmetics and a 4 position pin straightener. It is not in the best cosmetic condition to be sure(mostly smudging/dust) BUT it works just as good as the real thing and it would probably clean up pretty well if someone wanted to devote their time ... moreto doing so. As I said. It is built from Military grade parts& it is housed in a sheet steel soldered joint box. It is very sturdy! It has a thick cork backing which is glued on and can be replaced with whatever the new owner would like. I guarantee this unit to be as described or your money back HOWEVER. Operators Manual for Hickok 600 Tube Tester
Please make sure if you have a model 600 or 600A. The bias settings are different. I also have the 600A manual listed in my Ebay store. This is a very nice comb-bound reprint of the regular operator's manual including several pages of data for testing ballast tubes. Calibration instructions, and a big 11x17" fold-out schematic. I have added 8 pages of calibration& maintenance info contributed by friends. Postage is free in the USA. Foreign bidders are welcome. But please do not ask me to falsify customs documents.
