This crescent shaped Mid Century Modern desk is one of the many beautiful pieces of furniture created by the famous designer Gilbert Rohde. Gilbert Rohde(1894–1944) was one of the most influential and innovative furniture designers in the U.S. He opened his own interior and furniture design firm in the late 1920's. And by 1931 was designing furniture for Herman Miller's mass production. Rhode took on the formal role of design director for the Herman Miller Furniture Company in 1932. His emphasis on compact, functional, and affordable pieces for both home and office played a ... morevital role in Herman Miller's transition into modern furniture, in which it became an American pioneer and a dominant force following World War II. The construction and the joinery evident in the construction of this desk is of very high quality. Condition- The overall condition of this desk is very good. There is one issue we must point out. A previous owner has replaced the handles. So the handles used, although stylistically, are compatible, they are not original. The upholstery is free of cracks. Stains or repairs and is free of odor and smoke. Chrome is excellent with just minor scratches here and there hardly worth mentioning. NO RUST. The chair is super comfortable, nice spring to it and the seat sits nice and firm, springs are still excellent.
