HP 5381A Frequency Counter Up for auction is a very accurate HP 5381A counter. The Schlumberger counter in the pictures IS calibrated and I have adjusted the HP to match it. The first picture is measuring 10 Mhz. Then 23 Khz, then 25 Mhz. As you can see it is right on the money! The display window had some type of coating that is mostly peeled off otherwise it is really nice shape. It has a small footprint it measures 10" x 6 1/2" x 3 1/2" And is under 5 lbs. This is a very compact and well working frequency meter/ counter by Aceco. Frequency range 1 Mhz to 3000 Mhz. In good condition, with no scratches or dents. The only thing is that the power adapter is not the original one and has tape on its wires; other than that it's a well working combination. It holds a charge good and will work as a handheld unit when charged. Pick up antenna makes it very sensitive; I usually just put this counter on top of my transmitter and it would always indicate the correct frequency. This is a vintage Heathkit frequency counter. It is in good condition and works well. The frequency range is 5hz-50mhz on channel A. And 40mhz-512mhz on channel B. It has a crystal oven so it is very accurate. It has been sitting in the closet for awhile, but turns on and seems okay. Shown is my EIP Model 535 frequency counter. It has option 8 installed(no idea what this is) It works very well. And accurate(I checked it with my GPS Timebase although it seems to have lost sensitivity in the upper ranges. I tested it at 10HGz with a gunnplexer, and was able to read the frequency of the gunnplexer with just a short wire in the input. The left hand handle was broken when I originally received it but it has been repaired and is quite sturdy. Other than a few cosmetic scratches. Etc, it is in great shape and should work for a long time if taken care of. It comes with the power cord and service manual on disk. It is ready to go with. The A22 board is marked Series 2044, and by looking at U19,20, 23, and 27 it would appear that the A22 has a date code below 89351 from the manual. Since the ROM is the 5370-80009 this would correspond to the 2904Axxxxx serial series of the 5370B. So, even though the original 5370A was built in 1980, it looks like it has been updated to about the 1989 level of production. This unit is a good counter to start with. But really shines in Time Interval mode where it has 20ps single-shot resolution. There are also several math functions, and with averaging even higher resolutions can be obtained. Calibration sticker still in place shows not opened since last good cal. Some times you find these units with the protective film never having been removed. It yelolos and becomes discolored in time. I am not sure if there is a crack running down the face or if the chip at top ends perfectly aligned with a crease in the film. Either way it does not cross the active display areas and should not be a bother beyond cosmetics. An interesting unit to be sure. Low opening and no reserve. This is a no warranty no return sale.
