This is a Rivers Edge Climber Deer Tree Stand. I purchased this at an estate sale and do not know much about it. But I will do my best to answer any questions you may have. According to the label it fits tree diameters from 8" minimum required tree diameter) to 20" according to its' label and it holds a maximum of 300 pounds. It is in very good physical and cosmetic condition and all of the thumb screws turn freely. The label also says to keep the top and bottom units connected at all times by using the rope that is provided. Klein& Sons' The climbing spikes have an aluminum shaft with a steel spike and a metal sleeve that is screwed to the top. They have leather padding and canvas straps. The leather show some light dirt type staining and the canvas straps show some wear at the holes. The aluminum show some sratching and the metal sleeve show some light tarnishing. The leather guards over the spikes have small holes worn from the point of the spike. The spike covers are marked'Bashlin Grove City. Pa. The safety harness is a heavy canvas with heavy snap buckles. Vintage BASHLIN BD-14 Aluminum Climber spikes hooks *Gaffs* Utility pole tree
Up for auction is a pair of Bashlin BD-14 aluminum tree- or pole-climbing spikes. These are OLD and in rough shape. And show their age in many ways. First. Both leather harnesses have lost stitching and split, and the stuffing is showing. See second through sixth pictures. The leather has mildewed, and is stiffening, aging, and starting to deteriorate, and the metal buckles and other metal parts are rusted. The screws(visible in the last picture) that allow the length to be adjusted seem to be frozen in place. I tried a screwdriver and was unable to loosen them, however, I didn't try WD40 or PD-Blaster or any other means, so perhaps there is hope. These are an interesting item as far as being a piece of history. But I suspect that they don't have any useful life in them. This auction is for a set of Vintage Climbing Spikes Gaffs Utility Tree Cutting Spurs Lineman with old Leather straps. The leather need to be replaced. They are untested and leather brittle and cracking but other wise they look like they are in good shape for how old they are. Squirrel is 13" long x 4 1/4" wide x 4" tall. Great black painted details. The underside is curved to fit the shape of a tree and there are 2 holes for mounting. No chips, cracks or breaks.
