Heathkit Model AD-1304 Active Audio Processor
I built this unit in the late 1970’s(along with 7 more Heathkit units) and used it for almost 40 years now. I removed the unit from my stereo system about three months ago because I only play CD’s and Mp3’s now and really don’t have a use for it. I tested it today(4/26/2013) just to make sure everything works and it does. Sorry I do not have the manual! Description: This unit is a noise reduction and dynamic range expansion device with a high filter that can be turned off. It is has a brushed aluminum front panel. Wood side panels and a black pebble grained top. It still does a good job of cleaning up noise on stereo program material and adds about 7 dB of dynamic range. Vintage test equipment in used condition. Has scratches and cracks on the meter cover. Missing/wrong screws on face plate. The carrying case shows signs of wear but overall good condition. The units is a bit grungy and could use a cleaning. The paper reel is intact with no tears but the thumb dial hangs up a bit in certain spots. Testing: Unit powers up. The line adjust works. Tested a few known good and bad tubes on the 9-pin socket only. It"passed" the good tubes and"failed" the bad ones so it appears to be somewhat functional. Heathkit TT-1 Tube Tester for HiFi Audio + Guitar Amp ★ NO RESERVE ★
Up for auction is a rare Heathkit TT-1 tube tester. The unit comes complete with the user manual. As well as the original construction manual. Overall, the unit is in great physical condition. The faceplate sparkles with hardly a scratch on it! The outer case is somewhat faded, but the cloth is intact with the exception of on tear(see photos below) Some of the metal hardware has a little rust, but nothing too serious. I actually owned a TT-1 a few years back. And loved it. It's a great tube tester for someone who tests common audio tubes(6L6, 6V6, EL34, EL84, 12AX7, 6SN7, etc) The unit powered right up as the previous owner said it would, however, some of the knobs were very stiff, and a few would not turn at all. They will need to be cleaned and lubricated before the tester can be used. It may also need some level of calibration, and ... moreperhaps a few small components(resistors, caps, etc) This does not include the TTA-1-1 adapter. That is being offered for sale in a separate auction. If you are doing primarily audio work with tubes similar to those listed above. You will likely never need the adapter. It tests oddball tubes that I personally never use. I have not attempted to repair this tester in any way. I haven't even taken it out of the cabinet. Because if the stiff/locked knobs. Nice Vintage Heathkit IT-12 Signal Tracer Radio Audio Ham w/Probe & Manual Works
SquareTrade © AP6.0 This is a very nice Heathkit Model IT-12 Visual-Aural Signal Tracer. The unit comes with a copy of the assembly and operation manual and schematic. Heathkit had permanently attach the probe to this model Signal Tracer.no hunting for probes! A slide switch on the probe switches from audio circuits to demodulating rf signals. The unit uses both the sound from the speaker and also a"magic eye" tube for visual indication. The eye tube is strong and works properly. See photo#8. All the electrolytics were replaced with new caps and any resistors out of tolerance were also changed. Both tubes test"good" You'll notice when turning the unit"on" some low level hum. This is due to the high sensitivity of the tester and the fact that the input grid is at the probe tip and it'll pick up spurious ... moreac fields. You can move the probe around and hear a change in the hum and touching the tip end causes a louder hum. Once you start exploring a circuit and place the probe on a audio or rf point the hum disappears. This unit works fine and is an great aid in troubleshooting problems in vintage radios. Amplifiers and TVs. It's a must on the service bench. The concept and practice of signal tracing is simple and explained in a few pages in the manual. All the knobs are original and all function properly. The Model IT-12 is the successor of Heathkit's Model T-4. The only difference is that the IT-12 has fancier knobs. Circuit is exactly the same but this kit came out about 4 years after the very successful T-4. If you repair vintage equipment of collect vintage test equipment you should consider this Signal Tracer. You won't find one as clean and as nice as this one. Also. Disconnecting the probe line and adding a phono jack w/ matching impedance resistor will turn this into a great little amplifier for the guitar enthusiasts. Here is a cool stack of Heathkit vintage gear. AD 1404. AD1405, AD1407. An audio monitor with nice big vu meters, a noise reduction unit, and an octave equalizer. All appear to be functioning normally but I am missing a few minor parts. The monitor is missing one of the wood panels on one end as can be seen in photo. The equalize is missing one of the tiny red light caps. And the equalizer is missing one of the handles for the slides but the shaft is intact and slides normally. The cap for the power on button for the EQ is missing as well but again the shaft is fine and functional.

Heathkit Audio Signal Generator SG-72A like SG-72 IG-72 & IG72A
Here is a vintage. All tube, Heathkit audio signal generator model SG-72A. This unit is identical to the IG-72A except from what I understand, the S denotes it was factory built. As you can tell from the faceplate silkscreen, the SG-72A was made after Schlumberger bought Heathkit. Other nearly identical Heathkit generators to this one include the IG-72 and the IG-9. This unit is very clean and very presentable in your shop. I touched up some paint chips on the black case and installed the banana jacks where a BNC connector was mounted. The banana jacks are not Heathkit originals. But look very similar. Because of its age, this instrument has some minor flaws. Note that the lettering in the area of the INT/EXT switch is slightly faded. There is some tarnish around the banana jacks. The meter face has some haze just above the adjustment screw, ... morebut the scale area is clear. These are just some of the more obvious flaws. Please take a close look at the pictures for more details. This generator is fully working. I calibrated it. But please note that my test equipment, though good enough for rock'n roll, probably wouldn't meet NBS accuracy. Case in point is my B&W Model 400 Distortion Meter which measured less than 0.1% distortion. But I bet my trusty 400 is not very far off. One of the pictures shows the scope trace of the actual output. Included is a bound copy of the IG-72 manual.

Vintage Heathkit CT-1 Capaci-Tester Capacitance Tester for Radio Ham Audio
Vintage Heathkit Capaci-Tester model CT-1 made in the late fifties in USA. The magic eye tube is nice and bright. Did a basic test with some old capacitors lying around and the unit is responsive- no further tests done. Metal case is nice but has a few spots with peeling paint. AC cord is original and supple. This is a Heathkit Sine-Square Audio Generator Model IG-18 with original assembly manual. The unit powers up and appears to be functional. It was obtained from the estate of my uncle. An engineer where it was located on a shelf above his test bench. I believe he built this as he built so many of his things, including speakers and amplifiers In assembly manual, every step seems to have a check. Great red color. As you can see from the photos, it is in impeccable cosmetic condition with all the knobs and switches.

HEATHKIT IG-72 AUDIO GENERATOR (Same as AG-9A)
This is Heathkit IG-72 Audio Generator. It is in mostly-working condition. But it is unstable at some frequencies. It could use some more cleaning of the switches and controls and probably a replacement of some of the electrolytic capacitors, particularly C8, the feedback capacitor. The fact that it works as it does shows that the tubes are in good condition. It is in very good cosmetic condition. The only defect being a ding in the back and bottom of the case. There is no manual. But copies are available on-line, or I can e-mail the successful bidder a copy on request. Note that the IG-72 is just a cosmetic re-working of the AG-9A. The two are electrically identical. The IG-72 manual does have a detailed schematic of the"Notch Filter Circuit" the resistors and capacitors that set the frequency) whereas the AG-9A manual did not. ... moreThe last image is a FFT of the output at 1KHz. The peak is the fundamental. Harmonics are down in the noise of the oscilloscope FFT. Around-60dB, which corresponds to the specification of 0.1% distortion. Update: I've found a replacement for C8. Which seems to have fixed the instability problem. Instead of a 20uF, 200V cap. I've used a 40uF, 450V unit. The value of this cap is not critical as long as it's a low impedance at all frequencies of interest, so using a larger value is OK.

Available for sale is a Heathkit tube tester. Model TC1. The unit appears to be complete(with the exception of the plastic selector knobs) and in decent cosmetic condition for it's age. Take a look at the photos below, and I think you'll agree. This unit was acquired from a gentleman who used to repair/restore older tube radios as a hobby.
