Vintage Wooden Vernors Crate. Detroit, Michigan. Nice!
This is a nice crate. Vernors. Detroit. Mich. It has minor warping on one side, but the wood isnt all rotted out like most of these I find. Its a solid old crate. I dont know who put the band from one end to the other, but it looks to me to be the exact same banding used on the ends when these are built. It looks like someone added that and small peices of wood on the inside corners, maybe someone did that at the factory where these were made to carry tools around or something. It wouldnt take much to remove these items if you want to. I figured I would leave that up to the winning bidder. Maybe someone can use the banding to repair another crate? The banding on the ends is in nice shape also, aside from one small break. Overall this thing is really nice. I typically see these busted up and/or rotted out with rusty banding. I believe it is Gladstone, it is very similar to other earlier images of the depot, that had a covered walk-way platform, no longer there in 1964. This is an original black and white snapshot photograph. It is dated and identified on the back of the photo. This photographer had a great interest in photographing railroad depots. Any information that is mentioned about the photo(s) is taken from the backs of the photo(s) The photographer wrote the information on the back. This is a photo. Not a postcard. For lack of a better category to list it in. And because of thesize format being similar to regular postcard size, I felt this was a good fit. View is in excellent condition. This is a historically significant 1950 letter(see picture) signed by deceased MICHIGAN GOVERNOR G. MENNEN WILLIAMS. The letter. Dated September 19, 1950 was written to future CONGRESSMAN JOHN LESINSKI, JR. congratulating him on winning the nomination for Congress in the 16th Michigan District. John Lesinski, Jr. went on to win the election, and replace his late father in Congress. Lesinski was a Democrat from Dearborn, Michigan. He served in Congress until the mid-1960's. This letter is clean and intact, exhibiting folds, creasing, and three small holes along the left margin, perhaps from being placed in a 3-ring binder at one time. This antique plat map is dated 1916 and is for the west part of the City of Albion. Michigan. Piece is in fair condition. It has torn at the center folded crease, and the edges have torn and crumbled in several places. The map itself remains unfaded and very legible. 1917 Grand Lodge F & A.M. of Michigan Masonic Identification Coin Lodge 475 WW1
This World War 1 Grand Lodge Masonic Identification Coin was issued in 1917 to members of the fraternity that were in the war service. I don't know much about this coin. Other than information that I could gather online and I do not know what it is made of. It measures just over 1-1/2" in diameter, and from what I have read, the Grand Lodge F. A.M. of Michigan issued these coins to show loyalty and devotion to their members in the war. One side shows the National Emblem of the American Eagle on top of the Masonic Emblem with the words surrounding it GRAND LODGE F. A.M. OF MICHIGAN. The other side reads BROTHER- GEO. F. BECKER IS A MEMBER OF LODGE No. 475- HE IS WITH THE UNITED STATES EXPEDITIONARY FORCES OF 1917. Surrounding that around the rim reads IN CASE OF ACCIDENT OR DEATH NOTIFY LOU B.
