Right down to actually having seats, an employee(ticket taker? and lights in the interior. I am very impressed with this set(I have several other pieces for sale also) I believe it is a passenger/mail car- there are passenger seats on half of it. All is working as it should. I got this from an avid train collector who took very good care of his items. Most of his items were still new in original box. But this one does not have a box. It does, however, look to me like it was a display item& well cared for, very nice looking condition. All doors, catches, etc are in working condition. I've been told this is a pre-WWII post office scale but don't have any direct knowlege of a date. It is however. In great shape for its age. I used it a few years ago to track the growth weights of a litter of puppies so I know it's still accurate at least for items under a pound. There's no rust but there are a few paint chips and very few minor dings. The dial face is completely legible. It will be a nice accent piece in a den or home office.

1968 Vintage 1st/3rd Class Mail Scale with Rates
A bit of useful whimsy from the 1960's- a postal scale for 1st class. 3rd class and air mail, with corresponding rates for 1968. The scale remains fairly accurate for weighing mail up to 16 ounces. I have used it often. I do have the original box, which is not in real good shape, but it is nice for showing the origin and the time period. It also includes a small piece of green paper on which are printed the rates for 1968, and the regulations for each type of mail: first class, air mail, second class transient, third class, fourth class(parcel post) special handling, delivery fees, insurance fees and other fees" Nostalgia.
