Arts & Crafts Pittsburgh Era Original to 1800's Home Slag Glass Brass Gas Shade
Antique Arts& Crafts Victorian Slag Glass Gas Shade from the Pittsburgh Glass Miller B& H Era. I have sold Pittsburgh Shades Previously and this shade is very similar with the Brass Cut out Silhouettes Used of That Era. This Shade is Original to my late 1800's built home. The top brass fitter portion would take the old spring type gas fitters. All glass is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips seen. The glass is all original to the shade with butterscotch and caramel colored slag/ stained glass. The fitter measures 1 5/8 inches across with the tabs measuring an extra 1/4 inch for a total 2 inch fitter end. The shade is six sided measuring approximately 8 1/2 inches tall and 6 inches across the bottom. I do use frog tape where the glass fits into the shade and soft stuffing materials inside the shade for safe glass shipping! ... moreThe shade will also be double boxed. this is a rare exquisite antique victorian bronze wall mount candle holder sconce. It was once a gas sconce and could still be concerted back. But was turned into this wonderful candle holder and very high quality. it has exquisite ornate detailing and holds 2 candles. it is made from thick heavy bronze and has a wonderful patina from age. it is highly embossed with beautiful scroll work. And foliage patterns. it measures 12 1/2 x 11 inches and sits 7 1/2 inches from the wall. it is in good shape and can be wired with electricity also if desired. it has new hardware in the back but does not take away from the piece. i believe the middle arm knob is the on/ off gas hook up. very rare victorian sconce. Original Brass Consolidated Hit and Miss Gas Engine Oiler Steam Tractor Magneto
This is an original brass and glass oiler for a hit and miss engine. Pump, or other piece of machinery. It was made by the Consolidated Brass Company in Detroit. It is in excellent used condition with no cracks or breaks of any kind. It is a rather large oiler measuring about 3 inches in diameter and 6 3/4 inches tall overall. It is the size of a#5 oiler. Both glasses are good. It has 1/2 inch pipe threads that are in good shape. There are some light wrench marks on the mounting hex but nothing serious. These large oilers are getting tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets. Everything seems to work as it should. This is complete and ready to be put to work. The pictures tell the story. Nice brass nozzle with the aluminum spout.I believe it is marked Knapp Co. K 721-1. Kinda hard to read the name.There is a piece threaded into the end where the hose goes. The thread on that extra piece is about 1" of course larger if taken out. Overall this is about 12 1/2" long, not including the extra threaded piece. Light wear, some green stuff in a small area. These gas-guzzlers were so thirsty that the UP had to provide a tender for its fuel. Powered essentially with a jet engine similar to those used on jet airplanes. The turbines were very loud locomotives and were banned from use in populated areas. The fleet of gas turbine locomotives were eventually scrapped not because there were any flaws in their design but rather as a result of the ever increasing horse power of the newly introduced standard quieter operating diesel units. Thus. The turbines, that had noise restrictions, became obsolete. The model of this locomotive is painted and has the venting weathered in black paint.
