The original facing has its milling on the table and out the rails; it is in excellent shape with only a small bit of roughness at the edge of the table and one very light scratch on the left rail near the tip; neither have any effect on the playability. The original interior is in fine condition. No cap or ligature comes with the mouthpiece. This mouthpiece plays very well: it's medium bright but with warmth and solidity. The only thing I see wrong with it. Is it's missing a couple of brass screws in the handles cover. It wants to turn, there are holes for screws that I'm sure is suppose to keep it from moving. It's the part of the handle thats knarled to help you grip it. I got this at an estate sale. I cleaned it up to find the names and numbers on it. I haven't tested the torch but as always, it's best to replace the"O" rings before using them anyway. Let me know if you have any questions. Old, Antique, Silver-Mounted Tip and Screw 4/4 Violin Bow
Up for auction is an old 4/4 Violin bow. I received it within a case of a very very old violin I acquired a while ago. I would estimate its age to be from the 1930's. I am a professional violinist and not a bow expert. So I will describe it to the best of my ability. If I had to guess. This bow is either Brazil or Pernambuco wood and has the desired'silver-tip' Mother of Pearl eye and screw-head that is round and bouncy. Its total length is appx. 29' and weighs about 59g. Because it will need the thumb grip. Lapping and re-hair, I cannot guarantee its play-ability and reflects the starting price. It does have a slight bow towards the tip. But it is hard to notice; as well as a small ding in the stick just above where the lapping should end. It is marked only with the Roman Numerals"XVI" inside the frog and interestingly ... moreenough. On the stick near the lapping(see pics)there is also what seems to be an insignia where the Silver was attached to the tip, but I cannot be sure if it is silver at all. This is a Carlsbad. CA vintage Brilhart Tonalin 2* tenor mouthpiece, serial number 137814, in very good original condition. As typical of many Brilharts, the nominal facing isn't what it really is- the tip measures right about.075" modern 4* with a(short- also typical of many Brilharts) 32 break. Physically the mouthpiece has no cracks, only ligature scratching and some light surface wear. The original facing has its milling on the table and all the way out the rails; it is in very good+ condition with only a couple of micro flaws that have zero effect on playability. The original interior is excellent. No cap or ligature comes with the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece plays well. Though it has a fair bit of resistance because of the short facing. Sound-wise it is smooth and on the higher side of middy, fairly dense, with a few bits of ... moredarker color in it- not a screamer, but very nice.
