DESCRIPTION Up for auction is an original box or carton containing 5 New Old Stock Hy-Vac U201A(UV-201-A) radio vacuum tubes for 1920s battery radios. The carton label says that they were matched when new and some were designated as RF amplifiers and others as detectors and for audio frequency output. The tubes appear new and unused although the box has been opened ... moreand some of the tube wrappings have been disturbed. Probably someone has tested them in the past. Four of the five tubes were tested and found to be very good. The fifth wasn't tested because the wrappings appeared to be undisturbed. This is probably a nearly unique item as it is unlikely that many of these sets have survived from the 1920s. Four of the tubes were checked on my I-177B Military tube tester as a type 01A and gave the following mutual conductance values: 750, 800, 800, and 850. A new 01A tube is expected to give 725 on this tester, indicating that the four tube, good and very close to and slightly exceeding the expected emission for a new 01A tube. The fifth tube in the box with the new looking wrappings should also be just as good based on these results. The original individual tube boxes inside the carton are plain white with no markings except for pencil notations on the tops. I discovered accidently when shining a UV light on some Vaseline glass that was in front of these vases. They have a slight yellow green glow to their thicker parts. I have never seen a clear glass fluoresce before. I don't want to call this Vaseline Glass But they do glow. They are 6 inches tall by 3 1/2- 4 inches wide.
