UP FOR AUCTION IS A RARE ANTIQUE WESTERN ELECTRIC CANDLESTICK PHONE. SOLD WITHOUT THE RECEIVER) dated 1904. Marked"Western Electric" on the back of the mouthpiece as well as the base. The base states that the patent is applied for in AUG. and SEPT. of 1904. The number on the badge on the transmitter says: 615A. There is also the number w/letters 20AL on the part holding the transmitter. One of the 3 screws holding the base is missing. The mouthpiece is unique. I have never seen one like this before. Condition is Good, with a few nicks and marks mainly to the base. The rust colored felt on the base has a few small areas on the edge that have worn through to the metal. No rust that I can see. This is the personal Belt belonging to the husband and was given to him when he retired from the telephone company. It was stored in the attic of his home. It shows some cracks in the leather. Rust here and there and some oxidizing from condensation. It is marked Bashlin and Grove City, PA. It is 36" when measuring the inside circumference of the Belt around to the 4th notch. The waist is a thick rigid leather. It has two thick metal hooks. A side pouch and a leather strap with a metal hanger. The Belt is structurally sound and is not broken, ripped or torn. GPO BT Black 706 Dial Telephone 1960 Phone Vintage Eames Era Panton Converted
This is a beautiful. Fully working and converted 1960's BT/ GPO 706 telephone in the very desirable and contemporary glossy black colour. On the base it is marked, 706. L. T.E. 60/2 for 1960 so it is now 53 years old! This telephone has the bell on/ off push button on top which has been wired to function on modern lines. A very handy feature if you don't require a loud ringer. This telephone is fitted with the more sought after chrome carry handle which is far superior in strength than the flimsy black plastic type, please see picture 10. I have removed the case. The mouth piece, the ear piece, dial outer ring and cleaned and polished them thoroughly, including careful removal and cleaning of the dial and the number plate, the casing and handset have come up good, with the usual marks, scratches and abrasions for the age which are ... morevisible in the pictures. There is a piece of plastic missing where the carry handle fits, however it doesn't affect the strength of the phone and isn't too noticable when viewed from the front and is hidden when the handset is placed back on top. Please see picture 7. There are no other splits or cracks to the phone and no obvious signs of discolouration. The original clear plastic centre disc is in place and retains one of my very good quality reproduction paper labels for, Park Lane 2984' The dial is very smooth and the black curly handset cable has been thoroughly cleaned and has no twists, the line cord is brand new and is black in colour. The four rubber feet are in very good condition. Speech is very clear and the ringer is working very well, nice and loud! It has a standard BT plug and is ready to use straight away with any landline that supports pulse dialling. Phones that use pulse dialling are compatible with most cable networks in that they will still accept incoming calls but will not dial out. Labels read Western Electric made in USA Push to Talk Release to Listen. Weighs 27 lbs before packing. 20 5/8" long by 14" wide counting the turn crank handle and mouthpiece hanger by 14" deep with mouthpiece. Backboard is 20 5/8" long by 9 1/2" Mouthpiece signed Western Electric Patent January 14. 1915. Earpiece has an HA1 marked pickup inside and looks complete. Mouthpiece is missing some internal parts. It looks pretty much complete or complete inside but bell does not ring when you turn the crank on the generator. Generator feels like it should work as it has the proper resisrtance when cranked. 1 small chip to the backboard top center. Wood is tiger/quartersawn oak with finish wear. Note shelf has a ridge on it to keep your paper/pencil from falling off.
