Antique Ben Franklin Style Wire Rim Sun Glasses steampunk 1820's / 30's
This auction is for an antique pair or Ben Franklin style spectacle sunglasses. These glass lens look like the type used in the last half of the 1700's and the early part of the 1800's. The glass has a grayish looking tint and do not appear to be corrective lens. The glasses are in very good condition to being approximately 200 years old. The lenses have some very minor scratches and flea bite chips. But nothing that would interfere with actually using them. The glasses measure 4.75" across the hinges. This is a stunning high quality antique 19th century Victorian gold filled unisex circular eye/sunglasses. the gold filled frames are very detailed with a rope design and the arms bend allowing them to wrap around the ear. the lenses are in exquisite condition with no scratching and have a yellow/brown color. Refer to pics. they are nice circular lenses. it has a nicely shaped gold filled nosepiece and are comfortable shades. they come in a vintage hard case which does have some ware but in descent condition. the frames are in nice condition measuring 5 inches from side of lens to other side of lens. and the circular lenses are 2 inches in diameter. very nice quality Victorian sunglasses.
