This is the most versatile and simple to use stepper driver I have found. It can be controlled with a pulse(square wave) input from any source so you can use a microcontroller for digital control. Or a 555 timer with pot for analog control. I used a simple schmitt trigger oscillator with a CD40106(easier than a 555 if you haven't learned the trick yet) I was able to breadboard a working analog control circuit in 15 minutes and plan to use it in some of my kinetic artwork. This chip can drive small motors directly or can be used to drive mosfets or bjt/darlingtons for any size stepper. Please check my other listings for other components of all types.
