Bought this a couple of years ago and never got round to using it. I bought it to use as a simple wave generator for making music a la Delia Derbyshire and the Radiophonic Workshop. 8 ohm speaker outputs and 8k ohm signal outputs. Both on banana plugs I believe but I'm not an expert so I cannot be sure. I've had a look inside and it's high quality components in there- I would have thought it was made in the UK, probably in the 80s. It is untested but I bought it as working. This is a rather uncommon marine Set manufactured by Hallicrafters. It does power on and some signals were heard on the low end of the AM BCB which the receiver covers. It will need to be gone through and re-capped. As the audio starts to"motor-boat" when gain is increased. BFO appears to work. No further testing was done. The components are easily accessible and restoration should be fairly easy. All dials turn freely and the vernier action of the tuning dial is excellent. There is no bottom cover or cover that goes on top of the RF stage. Presumably this unit was rack-mounted. I am selling this unit for parts/not-working as it will need to be restored by a competent technician. Vintage Signal Corps BC-221-J 125-20.000KHz Frequency Meter in exceptional condition with calibration charts and power supply. Interesting that this one was made by Zenith Radio Corporation. The Power Supply is located at the bottom of the unit and it looks more modern than the frequency meter, I did not plug it in a power outlet since the cord seemed unsafe with brittle plastic cover, please, see picture. I have not carried out any test so I do knot know if it works, although given the excellent condition of the equipment and that it was made for military application, I wouldn't be surprised if it worked as originally designed. There is a spare parts compartment with tune holders which contained replacement tubes which are not included in this auction. I'm saving these tubes to list with other military equipment replacement tubes ... moredown the road. Great collector's item too, the nice black cabinet is in great shape- no rust, dents, dings, deep scratches or additional holes, it is also a nice addition to Zenith collectors. The inside of the unit is in nice, clean condition and seems to be complete. As you can see in the photos, all of the original tubes and crystals are in place.
