PIONEER SM - 700 Power Amplifier
This is an interesting little amplifier from PIONEER. Model SM-700 Stereo Power Amplifier. From what information I can find; made in the 70's as part of a matching series of equipment. Apparently there is a matching Preamp and a reverberation amp and a electronic crossover and an Integrated amp. They all share styling with the real wood side pieces and matching dimensions, 12 inches across the front and about 4 1/2 inches high which includes the feet. I am including some information I found online with it. I have listened to this unit for awhile hooked up to bookshelf size loudspeakers. The 42 watts per channel seem to be enough for good sound levels. Hopefully you can see in the photos that this amp has unusual speaker wire connectors. It looks like they were designed for some sort of special plug. I made up adaptors to hook this to ... moremy speakers; they worked fine. I ran it through both"A" and"B" outputs with the results being a very clean good sound. There is a center channel RCA output plug; did not test this. The front input level control works as does the Left/Right speaker phase push buttons. There is some noise with these. I don't think they have been used much. The only thing I can find wrong with it is that there is a pop on turn on. But I have other amps that do this. So it may be normal; I don't know. No noise on shut off and non through the speakers or from the physical unit itself. Physically in very good condition; a solidly built unit. Binson Vintage Amplifier Power Transformer Module P4T28
I am not sure what this module is out of but I suspect it is sought after? The transformer seems to check out well. I am getting around 2 Ohms on the input side and checking from the last contact moving down the line I get a progressive Ohm Reading that would make sense and no dead reading. The selenium rectifier is original and not sure what shape it is in. I am getting 125K ohms with ohmmeter in one direction and 14K in the other which seems low but no experience with these Siemens units. I am sued to Megaohms. In any case the transformer is the harder to replace for sure. I will guarantee the transformer. A bracket for a capacitor is empty. The unit is used salvaged. Powered by

The Akasha is largely the same amplifier as Wells Audio's $6500 Innamorata minus the Bybee quantum AC filtering and Bybee Labs Music Rails. One of those undiscovered gems from left field that occasionally, but not too occasionally, occurs in the audio field. Combining a measure of the qualities people seek in tubes, with better bass, and without the pain-in-the-ass factor. It’s nicely made, powerful, and it sounds really good.
