This late 1800's Conversation Tube(as they were called) is in good condition. The hard rubber ear piece and bell are not broken. The black hose is a woven material likely mohair and is about 5/8 inches in outside diameter. The length is 42 inches. The bell flare is 2 3/8 inches in diameter and the ear piece is about 4 inches long. The hole in the earpiece is about 1/8 inch in diameter. These appeared about 1880 and were still in Sears catalogs in the early 1900's. This is one of a number of hearing devices that were made before electric hearing aids. It has a maximum gain of 50 decibels and output of 126 spl(sound pressure) Has a SPL adjustment and frequency adjustment. These adjsuments can be set by the user with a small screwdriver. This will work for a moderate to severe loss. It also has a telephone coil and t-coil switch. This aid is not digital. It has a"Push-Pull" or class B amplifier and takes a size 675 battery. The telecoil is strong on this aid. It will work well with the telephone on a hearing loop(induction loop) I can also send it with an ear hook so it will work with an ear mold.
