Indicating they are very highly corrected for both spherical and chromatic aberrations. Here is a magnificent Spencer Lens Company Stereoscopic Boom Stand Microscope Model 23. Serial number 180081 places its date of manufacture in 1942. In those heydays of American manufacturing prowess and genius. Things were built to last-and here is a prime example. Anyone would be proud to own this microscope.the quality of the engineering is truly phenomenal. The horizontal and vertical boom arms are machined from solid steel(not cheap aluminum as in later-day boom stand microscopes) There are three-count'em-heavy duty rack and pinion mechanisms controlling the operations of the microscope. The focusing knobs on the microscope head are chrome. Vintage 1920's American Optical Goggles/Glasses ~ Motorcycle/Aviation ~ L@@K!!
This is a Wonderful Pair of Vintage American Optical Goggle Glasses. Made for riding motorcycles or aviation, I'm not quite sure. They are marked on the lenses. The leather on this set needs some good cleaning and there are a missing tack type piece that gave way on the leather sides, one on each side, but doesn't really take away if you're looking at them, because the leather seems trained to go where the small tacks were. There are also some spots on the lenses, I cleaned them as best I could, I didn't want to really scrub on the lenses, so I'm not sure if the spots can be removed with a little more scrubbing or soaking. The plastic is still in good condition around the ear pieces. The metal frames need cleaning as well, but doesn't look like there is any rust at all. I believe this set to be in good to great condition ... moreand would be a great piece for your collection! They measure just over 5 1/2" long and 2 1/2" across. Since I am the person who has used and done the maintenance on this microtome for the last several years. I can state that it is in good operating condition with no issues. It has a custom acrylic safety shield which can be removed if you desire with two screws. There is only one part, the riding foot, which is subject to wear, and as the picture shows there is still many years of use left on this one. I am including an AO profile C knife with the unit, it is unused and unwrapped since the last time it was sharpened. Up for sale is a set of NFA safety glasses. They are very unique looking but very comfortable at the same time. They originally had a plastic headband but it was rotten and i replaced it with elastic. It can now accomodate the largest of heads with no trouble. The lenses are very high quality American Optical glass and are one of the finest around. They are replaceable and most welding supplies carry a number of 2" 50mmm) lenses of different shades that can be swapped out for different applications. The glasses have a plastic body with metal lens supports and mesh"windows" on the sides. There is a border of corduroy where they rest on your face and are quite comfortable. I wore these glasses for a few hours in my shop to see how they feel and i have no complaints. I can think on one other use for these glasses and that would ... morebe for a Halloween costume. Antique vintage cat eye glasses. American Optical from Cleveland Ohio MINT cond.
My aunt passed away early this year and I am cleaning out her things. She was quite wealthy and had some very nice items. I would also have to say she was addicted to shopping and would buy things and never use them. This is the case for these adorable vintage eye glasses. They are 5 1/4 inches from the tip of the wing across the front to the other wing tip. The ear piece is 4 inches from the hook of the ear to the front of the lens. From the end of the ear hook to the front it is 5 inches. The nose piece is approximately 3/4 of an inch wide. They are marked American Optical 5 1/4 on the inside of the right ear piece. This American Optical AO Spencer Cycloptic Stereo Dissecting Microscope is from my own personal collection; I have used this microscope and it is in fine condition. The American Optical Cycloptic Microscope was introduced in 1957 and is famous for its ease of use and for the quality of its optical system. Many of these instruments are still in use today. All controls operate smoothly. As they should, and the optics are phenomenal. This Cycloptic Microscope is mounted on the Catalog#56B Base which provides both a reflecting mirror or a white background. Psuedo-Isochromatic Plates American Optical Co, 46 Plates, Vintage, Slipcase, VG
I couldn't find a date for this. But a similar one that I found on the web listed the date as 1940. This other one I saw also showed more information printed on the inside front flap seen in the second photo of this listing. I believe this additional information, which actually is present in my version as well but largely blacked out for some reason, notes"Engraved and Printed at the Beck Engraving Co. In the sleeve of this book(if you can call it that. were three items shown in second photo- a business card of"Sterling Engraving Co" of New York, an"Important" note about using this book, and a typed page showing, for each of the 46 plates, what a"Normal Person Reads" and"Red-Green Blind Reads" The book is produced accordian-style, with two plates per each page, front and back of each page, ... morefor a total of 46 plates. The previous owner, perhaps a doctor, lightly numbered each print in pencil in upper right hand side, probably to correspond with his cheat sheet. Slip case and book in very good condition. Slipcase has a rubbed off rectangle about the size of a business card. Likely a card was affixed- maybe the one in the book- and then came unglued.
