Up for auction is this fine old American Optical Co. Phoroptor made by the Spencer Lens Co. Scientific Instrument Division. The Model Number is 590 MC. The Serial Number is N 6326. It measures 12 1/2" in width and stands 10 1/2" tall. It weighs 12 pounds. This piece is in superb condition and has no visible scratches or blemishes. You will not be disappointed. I was told that it dates to 1940. An impressive piece of American Optical history. FIN E PRINT: I try to describe the item accurately and to take decent photos. I do not want to make a profit or take a loss on shipping. I try to break even. Your item will be well packed to insure safe delivery and insurance will be included. If you have any questions. Please ask before bidding. If you have time. Please visit my other auctions. Thank you for taking a look.
Very nice WELLSWORTH PRESCRIPTION CATALOG. AMERICAN OPTICAL COMPANY, from 1923. This is in good condition, with wear from use, with pages that are dog-eared from use over the years. There are 5 pages thatI found with cutouts, where the optician may have wanted to use the illustrations elsewhere. It has many sections: Lenses, Spectacle Mountings and Frames, Windsor Frames, Zyl Spectacles, Eyeglasses Mounting and Frames, Oxford Eyeglasses, Lorginons, Chains and Ribbons, Cases, Temples, and Telegraph Code. This was obtained from Lang Jewelers of Cape Girardeau, MO. Shipping is determined by the calculator. Thanks for looking and please ask all questions well in advance of auction end so I have time to get back to you.
This is a wooden drawer of antique lenses that were used by an optometrist or optician with a pair of trial frames. They were used to determine the type of lens prescription for their patients. There are 155 slots for lenses and every slot has a lens in it. Some of the metal frames appear to be brass and some are a white chrome-like metal. It looks like a lot of the lenses are in the right spot. But there are also lenses where the number on the metal tab does not match the printed number on the case. Some of the lenses are quite thick and some have a frosted area and some tinted like sunglasses. All the lenses are intact but there are a few of the frames that have lost the little screw that holds the metal around the lens(maybe 7 or 8 of them) Along with the lenses in the slots there are 15 or so metal frames that no longer hold the glass ... morelens and some lenses that have fallen out of the metal frames. Included with the set of lenses is a trial frame made by American Optical. It is stamped Made in the USA and has the model or serial number U11062 stamped on it. There is also a metal framed lens that is mounted on a handle like a magnifying glass and a"Dispensometer" which is clear and comes in a leather case. The Dispensometer is 6.5 inches long. There is a metal gadget as well. But I have no idea what it is. The case is 18 1/2 x 12 1/4 x 2 1/8 inches. On the bottom of the case is a label that I suspect is the manufacturer of the wooded drawer(tray) that holds the lenses. The label says F. A. Foster and Company of Boston and Chicago. I did a search on the web and learned that FA Foster was a successful dry-goods manufacturer with F A Foster dying in 1921. That doesn't give a clear date for this tray but gives you a sense of the time of this item. This came from my dad's(an optometrist who started his practice in 1949) estate and may have been used by him when he traveled to other countries on mission trips or just may have been something he picked up along the way. I have a few more optometric ite
Vintage American Optical Company Optometrist Traveling Kit All lenses in good condition and ALL lenses are there. NO missing lenses There are 2 pair of test glasses. One holds the lenses from the kit. The other is adjustable to determine eyeglass size is my guess what it was used for The leather on the case is torn in a bunch of places The inside of the case is in real good condition All of the lenses are there for a complete kit There is even an old doctors envelope that holds the patients lenses Very neat and rare to find a complete kit with no lenses missing This is the large traveling kit with well over 200 lenses 5=2.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fvo%7B2d71f%2B%3E5%3D2-13cd5d314ce-0x101-

Offered is a True Vintage Early 1900’s Amblyoscope Antique Ophthalmology Medical Device In The Original Box. For display purposes. The box measures approx. 7 1/8” by 6 5/8” and the set is relatively lightweight, so a glass display shelf would seem sufficient if desired. The instrument is in good vintage condition with no broken components. The box is intact but shows signs of age and wear. Consistent with that of 90 to 100+ year old antique cardboard display boxes. There are two sets of viewing slides with this Amblyoscope. One set appears to be parchment paper. The other set appears to be celluloid or other sturdy material. Some of the slides appear to be machine printed and others appear to be hand drawn and colored. This device was believed useful in assessing a patient’s peripheral vision. Slides were inserted on the end of the scope ... moreand the patient would view through the lenses. The scope was adjusted inward and outward bringing the two slides to a complete picture. A gauge on top measured the level of the patients peripheral vision. For example. I inserted a slide of a boy on one end and a dog on the other. As the scope is adjusted, the dog goes to meet and stand beside his owner. Pretty cool! A nice and quite rare antique medical device to compliment any collection or medical office décor. A great unique gift idea as well! This instrument is from a local estate and was part of an enormous collection(1000’s of items) that was acquired over a 79 year period. The collector was a third generation physician. And began collecting at age 10. He recently expired at age 89. There are other items from this estate listed as well. And more to come, so please view our other listings and check back often. We currently have about thirty items from this estate. There are small numbers or tags attached to some of the items. This collector was avid in keeping records of his collection. And actually cataloged the items for quick reference. These numbers are visible in some of the photos. Special today: FREE SHIPPING! De

This is a large antique/vintage optical set. The cards indicate it is from the Tilton Optical Company. Tilton, NH. Opticians' Prescriptions a Specialty. This auction is for a Vintage lot of Optometry tools. I will describe each one: 1.American Optical Lens Measure(also known as a spherometer) has A.O.Co. 1.53 on front and Germany on back. Lens has some pits and scratches, metal frame is also pitted and scratched. I don't know how this tool works or if it works. If you use a small tool to press on the center indented button it does move the dial on the front of the tool. 2. Small ruler type measuring tool. Says'VIGOR GERMANY' on back. It is scratched and worn. I don't know what this is used for or if it is missing any pieces. It does slide easily to increase the ruler measuring ability. 3. Another small measuring ruler type tool. Says' McIntire Magee& Brown Co PHILA. This has a small piece that slides to measure. This is also scratched and worn. Not sure what this is ... moreeither, or if it is missing anything on it. 4. Another measuring tool. Says' DIXON No. 1 Made in USA 1/5' on front. It does slide easily. It is worn and has some rust but doesn't seem to affect it. I do not know what this is used for either or if it is missing any pieces. I am not sure if this is an optometrist's tool, it was with other tools. I do not know the ages of these pieces but they are definitely vintage. A great vintage lot of Optometry Tools. These are being sold as is. So ask any questions before bidding on them, I do not accept any returns on these items. Shipping will be $7.00. Due to Ebay's policy changes I can only accept Paypal as payment. No exceptions! Up for sale is an original antique 1930's Stereo Orthoptor Manufactured by The American Optical Company Model number 1327 with a serial of D2432. This is an extremely rare medical piece and probably the only one you will be able to find for sale PERIOD. Originally this device would be used to correct lazy eye. And fix a few other eye muscle problems through exercises. The chin piece is attached to a piston that moves up and down to adjust for the persons head size. Mirrors inside move along several axis' to project images to the viewer. There are roughly at least a dozen more adjustments that can be done etc. This is a very heavy substantial piece with multiple controls and adjustments. Haven't put it on a scale but in the 60lb+ range easy. All steel and chrome. The original black paint doesnt seem to have any scratches or flaws ... moreout of line for its age and it appears to have been used very little. Should clean up nicely but my thing with antiques is to leave them alone and sell as is. Everything seems to work including the lights, mirror adjustments etc. except for one minor thing. The removeable projectors have plugs that can plug into the machine itself. One of the plugs on the back of the machine doesnt carry any current BUT the side projectors both work and the one on the side with the faulty back outlet can be plugged in directly. Probably a simple fix, but I haven't looked into it. Heck we didnt even wipe it down yet as it was fairly clean when purchased. We plugged the machine in and it works, every hydraulic/moving piece functions. The pieces that go in the side projectors which look like small stained glass images on a rod(similar to a big lolipop) we only have ONE. I have seen images on some chinese websites of these pieces so they are probably in use in the orient somewhere and available. In summary you are buying the machine with both removeable side projectors and one glass slide for it. Shipping on this item is absolutely free. Please understand that we do not ship internationally. 1894 catalog from American Optical Company. 96 pages, 7" by 10" maroon cloth covered boards with gilt title and decoration on the front. Fabric shows wear, corners bumped and boards slightly warped. Binding and hinges are still very good and the pages are complete and clean. The last couple of pages have a very slightly riffled lower corner. This was the first catalogue for American Optical according to the company history. Illustrated and described within are the range of AO products from frames and lenses to machinery for cutting lenses and instruments for eye examinations. Antique American Optical Company OPHTHALMOSCOPE w/ Case- Works Up for auction is an antique American Optical Company OPHTHALMOSCOPE in it's original case. I purchased this at an estate auction and have no background in these so please look at all the pieces in the second photo to see if anything is missing. There are a total of 3 bulbs-I put batteries in the handle and tested the bulb that is currently inserted and it lit up so the piece works. The case has some white paint on it as in photo#6-otherwise just some light wear. I'm uncertain of the age of the piece but believe it to be several decades old. Please note that my shipping time is up to 5 business days as I have multiple jobs and can only ship one day a week. If you happen to purchase after I return from the post office on shipping day it will be a full week wait until I ... moream able to ship again. But most people will have a much shorter wait and some will have very fast shipping. No one will have to wait more than 5 business days. UP FOR AUCTION IS THIS 14K SPG WHITE GOLD American Optical FOLDING OXFORD. THE OXFORD EYEGLASS FASHION FAD STARTED AROUND THE TURN OF THE 20TH CENTURY AND HIT THE STREETS OF NEW YORK AROUND 1910. THE OXFORD IS SIMILAR TO THE EARLIER PINCE-NEZ BUT WITH A LARGER EYE SIZE AND AND A LONG. BOWED BAR CONNECTING THE TWO EYE WIRES. THIS OXFORD HAS"AO 14K SPG. STAMPED ON THE BOWED BAR THAT CONNECTS THE TWO EYE WIRES. I BELIEVE THE SPG STANDS FOR SPRING SO I AM ASSUMING IT IS A 14K SPRING. THE EYE WIRES AND TOP BAR HAVE A RICH LOOKING. FINELY ENGRAVED DESIGN TO THE SURFACES. THE CHAIN IS ABOUT 17 INCHES LONG WITH ABOUT 12 INCHES OF THAT A DOUBLE CHAIN. THE NOSE PIECES ARE STAMPED WITH"1-10 12K" THEY ARE MISSING A VERY MINUSCULE PART OF THE RESIN MATERIAL ON THE RIGHT NOSE PAD. THE LENSES HAVE A MINIMAL READING RX AND OVERALL THE OXFORD ... moreAND THE LENSES ARE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. THESE ARE A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE OF EARLY AMERICAN EYEWEAR AND WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION OR DISPLAY FROM THAT ERA. ALSO COULD BE USED IN PERIOD COSTUMING OF LATE 1800'S TO ABOUT 1930.
