This kit appears to be complete except for one of the colored worsteds: No 25. Below is a bit of history on the test. Very interesting stuff. Listed is a used film camera by American Optical Company. I do not know much about this camera other than the shutter is hand operated and there is a lens. The lens is in great condition- no scratches or defects. My guess is the camera was used in conjunction with a microscope. There are a few engraved numbers that are very faint. American Optical Antique Trial Lens Set: for Display or Steam Punk Repurposing
Set of 219 Optometrist's Test Lenses in a wood tray/box in a bonded leather case. SPHERICAL CONCAVE(70 lenses minus 8) CYLINDRICAL COCAVE(44 lenses) and CYLINDRICAL CONVEX(44 lenses) SPHERICAL CONVEX(70 lenses) PRISMATIC(2 lenses minus 2) BLANK(6 lenses minus 3) COLORED(Red. Black, Smoke) 1 pair of fitting goggles with what looks to be celluloid ear and nose pieces and one hand held examination lens of some type. The velvet is a dusty/dirty in areas and the leather in the tray shows clear signs of its age-I am afraid to try to clean it so that is up to you. The outside of the bonded leather case is quite worn and the latches are damaged/broken so that it will not close tightly. The wear on the case's exterior indicates the case saw many miles in its day. The wood tray fits neatly in the leather case, which is also lined with maroon ... morevelvet. The velvet on the top and bottom of the case interior shows impressions where the lenses have pressed into the case for somewhere near 100 years or possibly more. This set would make an impressive display piece despite the wear of the case and the small percentage of loss to the lens collection(13 missing out of 232 originally fitted in the case) It is a fascinating antique curiosity. Steam Punk creators would find ample material for jewelry making and/or monocles on chains. These lenses are intriguing pieces of history and deserve to be seen or at least re-purposed.

Vintage American Optical 1/10 12K GF 5-1/2 Aviation style sunglasses AO
Vintage American Optical sunglasses. Just purchased at an estate sale where the previous owner had been an eye doctor. I think they are from the 1960s or so. The frames say American 1/10 12k GF 5 1/2. It has the AO logo under the cross bar above the nose and says something similar I can't make it out on the photos right now and I don't have the glasses in front of me. The lenes seem ok. I didn't see any significant scratches. There were some residue marks from the price tag that I was able to remove. The frames are slightly loose and there may be a bid of a bend in the right side. About: This auction is for a pair of WWII U.S. Air Force gunner goggles and original tin case. Made by American Optical(AO) Polarized variable density lenses with a knob for adjustment. Condition: The goggles are noticeably aged. But still in very good- like new condition. Lenses and adjustment knob work perfectly. Located in South bridge Mass. These are the government issued style aviator sunglasses that AO manufactured under the Bausch and Lomb contract for the USN and USAAF during WW2 model AN6531. Which led to the creation of"aviator" style of sunglasses we see today. Up for auction is a pair of 100% original WW2 Government Issued American Optical AN-6531-1 Sunglasses. These glasses are in great condition. Wonderful for wearing or display. The frames are sturdy and strong, retaining 90% of their original nickeling with some honest patina in some areas. The frames are straight and true requiring little to no manipulation for waring and fit comfortably. ... moreThe lenses on these glasses are made of dark green"Anti glare" UV filtering rock glass. The lenses have NO chips, and NO cracks. The Viewers right lens however does have a very small scratch in it, about a millimeter in length. It does not appear to effect the vision in any way but is worth mentioning. Overall the lenses are clean(see photos for reference) The celluloid sweat band and nose pieces are 100% intact and are an even milky cream color. They are also free from cracking and are strong and sturdy. The hinges move freely and the screws are not mutilated. The reverse side of each nose pad has AO markings. Overall length of the frames measuring from hinge to hinge is 5-1/2" The glasses come with their original government issued leather flight case. The case is made of genuine leather and is in good condition. The felt lining inside is intact and is in good condition. The case has the belt loops on the back and are fully intact and are not torn. Here for your consideration is a very clean unused Hb Meter for accurate Hemoglobin Determination. This is a museum quality vintage medical device in its original case. This hase the slide and a container of 100 Hemolysis Applicators. This is a meter that was made by the American Optical Company. The interior battery cahamber is like new. And although I have not installed a C battery I believe the light bulb and meter is in working condition, but I have NOT tested. Vintage American Optical Prosthetic Eye Non Glass Gray/Hazel Iris Bloodshot
This is a vintage prosthetic eye made by American Optical that I bought at a flea market in the early 80's. This was really hard to photograph and capture the intricate detail that is on this without any glare. The iris is hazel with a gray ring around it. The colors are intense and so realistic. The whites of the eye have highly detailed vascularization which makes them look bloodshot. It is made of lucite or some sort of plastic and is a shell shape. There is a number on the side(5LN35 AO) perhaps to do with the color and shape/style. The eye is in good condition. Sorry. In my photos there was a little putty residue on the eye that I missed cleaning. I used putty to stick these to a skull. the putty is since wiped off. I am also selling another eye from the same dealer in a slightly different shade of hazel. Buy both and no extra shipping.
