Shires Double Valve Tenor Trombone with Bach 42 Slide Fantastic!
Hi there. Up for auction is my Shires double valve tenor trombone bell and vintage Bach 42 slide. 15 years ago or so I wanted a double valve tenor bell I could use for reduced opera/show productions and to work on my low range. I talked to Steve Shires about it. And he agreed to build me one. I believe this is his only double valve tenor bell, but I am not certain. This is a depended valve system. The second valve is removable and the horn can be played with a single trigger set-up. I've played this horn on operas, shows, and recording sessions, not to mention tons of 8vb Rochuts. About 6 years ago the horn was on a stand and fell over. I sent the bell/valve section back to Shires and it was expertly repaired there. There are a few remaining small dents in the valve tubing and small solder marks, but the horn plays just as it did before ... morethe stand tipping. The bell section, with the magnificent Shires engraving, looks almost new except for a minor scratch/dent not able to be photographed. The bell model is 7YLW and the serial number of the valve section on the slide receiver is 1329. As for the slide. I purchased it in 1987. I've used it professionally since then off and on. It's been a great slide. I'd rate the smoothness at least a 9 out of 10, but I'm very fussy. There is lacquer wear at the normal contact points. Absolutely no wear on the inner stockings. All in all, a great slide in great shape. No case or mouthpiece. When I used this horn. I used a gig bag. I'm not sure if the bell section would fit in a tenor hard case. Really nice playing horn. Lovely silver serving spoon with a swirled handle opening onto an abstract. Flowing Art Nouveau design. Not sure of a manufacturer or date- there are marks on the back but the only one I could make out was one denoting the silver content. The spoon is in good condition with little to no noticeable wear or tarnish. It measures 7.25" x 1.5" and weighs 42 grams. SU-188 Like us on Facebook@ Old Weird Stuff-First of all. You are bidding on an ORIGINAL WESTINGHOUSE T1 COMPRESSOR This compressor was an extremely rare accessory for FORD GPW or WILLYS MB Jeep and some 1 1/2 ton and 2 1/2 ton WW2 trucks. These were used in the field for inflating and deflating tires to cross rough terrain including snow and sand. The compressor mounts to the vehicle engine and ran from an alternate fan belt A hose is then ran from under the hood to the tires. Anyone looking for a T-1 knows how rare these are. The compressor rotates freely and creates compression. It does have a little surface rust in spots. Nothing that can't be brushed off easily. There are no chips or cracks anywhere on this compressor that i can see.

I am parting with this wonderful lot of hankies I have owned since the 1940's/1950's/1960's. Some may be older but I am not sure. The lot consists of a variety of 42 handkerchiefs. Four have the original tags: two state ALL PURE IRISH LINEN HAND EMBROIDERED IN CHINA. One says COTTON/POLYESTER MADE IN MADEIRA, and one states ALL COTTON MADE IN SWITZERLAND. Most are in excellent vintage condition. There are three hankies embroidered with the name SALLY and two with the initial S. Please note the red handkerchief has rhinestones for the dog's eyes- so sweet! The child's hanky with the bunny has stains. One of the'Sally' hankies has stains as well. There are a few others with very minimal stains but the rest are in excellent condition. Most were gifts as I was growing up and most never used.
