Keuffel & Esser vintage 4056 10 inch slide rule 1940's with soft leather case
Up for sale is a nice K&E model 4056 slide rule. The serial number of 070784 Makes this likely a mid 1940's model. The frame is made of boxwood. And the wood is finished nicely and in very good condition. The slide itself is reversible and in good shape. The cursor has a few very minor scuff marks but these are barely visible with it still on the rule. Overall a very nice rule and in great shape for something probably 70 years old.

As much as I researched this item. The only thing I could really find out was that the serial number, 181xxx, indicates a manufacture date of 1964. It comes in it's original wood carrying case(it has the serial number plate on it also) The interior storage foam is in pretty poor shape. But the equipment itself looks in fairly good shape. Keuffel & Esser Model 5958 Anemometer w/Case underground mining instrument
Keuffel& Esser Model 5958 anemometer in excellent working condition. The frame made of brass. This was apparently used in the underground mines of the anthracite(hard coal) region of northeast Pennsylvania. The only markings on the item are on the dial. I don't see any marks that identify it as a Model 5958. The sales slip for the leather case and the calibration sheet are what identifies it as a Model 5958. The leather case in complete and in very good condition. The black staining shows that it was used in a coal environment. There is a circular stamp on the case with"Keuffel& Esser Co. NY" The case was purchased in 1906. The instrument was probably used to measure air flow in the underground mines. The instrument works nicely. Only a small breeze is needed to rotate the fan. 1919 Keuffel & Esser Survey Transit With Original Tripod & Case
Due to size- no international shipping on this item(tripod is not collapsible) 1919 Keuffel& Esser transit. Includes carrying case and original tripod. Serial number on transit is 38363, dating it to 1919. Inside of case has the original Keuffer& esser Co. label, outside of case has a plaque marked KINKEAD MFG CO. Boston. Mass Case includes a plumb and other tools, also a small packet marked"wood screws and washers for transit carrying case" The case has a notch cut out on one end so the transit can be placed into it without removing the eyepiece. The piece of wood on the top of the case has a couple of cracks the length of the top. Opened carefully it will stay put. But it will fall out if opened harshly- the pieces just need to be reglued together. I am not an expert on transits. But I believe there should be a knob in ... morethe hole on top- it is not included. Please bid based on what you see and ask questions. Optics are crystal clear with reticule and the housing is excellent condition with light surface wear in a green finish with brass trim. It was purchased from an estate of a former engineer that graduated college after WW2 ended. I assume that the book is from the late 1940's or early 1950's. There are 55 pages in the loose leaf book and 14 pages have been written on. It is a nice collectors item.

Keuffel and Esser N4081 3 Log Log Duplex Decitrig Slide Rule Case K&E book
Here is a vintage K&E slide rule. Leather case, and instruction booklet/manual. A recent estate find, the slide rule has some discoloration on the ends from use and age, but it works fine. The leather case has a name written on it and inside the flap in ink and the old leather is stiff. I am not going to put the slide rule in the case when I ship it as the fit is tight, due to the age of the leather. Also you get a 126 page instruction manual for using this slide rule.
