Antique Keuffel Esser Survey Transit Compass Maritime Sextant Ship Nautical Tool
Presented for your consideration is this A wonderful piece of history. This device was manufactured by"Keuffel& Esser" and is marked as such. This precision instrument was manufactured in the mid to late 1800's and is stored in a wooden box. This transit features solid brass construction. This well made and well preserved example has black"crinkle" finish" with some 99% of the original finishes remain on this extra clean example. It is in excellent condition and does not exhibit any damage at all. With minor patina associated with age. The glass levels are all intact and filled with there original liquid. The glass lenses are clear and the line of sight is exceptional. All of the adjustment knobs turn with ease as well. The box does exhibit some light wear associated with age. Large Antique Keuffel & Esser Brass Pantograph in Wood Box w/ Label
For sale is a large antique Keuffel& Esser Model 1130 Brass Pantograph in the Original Wood Box. Pantograph is nickel plated brass. There spots where the nickel is worn/missing, some spots of tarnish/oxidation. I do not know enough about this item to know if it is complete. Please see pictures. There is a small pile of brass nuts and parts as well as two wires shown in the second and third pictures. One additional brass scribing piece was inside the box and not in that pile(see pic 7) Has the original paper label on the inside lid. Dovetailed Box has some scuffs and scratches throughout the box, and a few specks of paint splatter. Also a small split in the wood on bottom panel, back panel has a few age cracks. Slight gap between the lid and bottom when lid is closed, wood probably has expanded or shrunk somewhat over the years. Keuffel& Esser 1940's Marine Pibal Theodolite US Navy Excellent Very Rare Find Comes with steel carry case and swivel base. Marine theodolites were used in the navel services of the United States and the United Kingdom around the time of the second world war. The theodolite is installed on a gimbal which put on the tripod for use. The theodolite is kept upright by attaching a pendulum to the underside of the gimbals. This allows the instrument to remain level on a pitching deck. Directly below the eyepiece the horizon switch is visible allowing use of the natural horizon or the bubble horizon. Keuffel Esser Alidade and Compass
Keuffel& Esser 10 1/2" Alidade Model# 5202 and a trough compass for plain table model# 5204 replacing the older 5219 from 1900. Although its difficult to date these items they were purchased along with another piece I have listed this week. That piece was not made beyond the 1915 catalog. The Trough compass here is the same style listed in the 1915 catalog with the needle freeze bar mounted on the end. In the 1921 catalog the model N5204 shows the freeze bar on the side of the compass. Anyway ask if you have questions.

Keuffel& Esser Geo. compass model number 5472 was made in 1889 with its serial# 943. This compass was developed by the Harvard Geological Department. measures 2" and is substantial. It comes with a nice leather case although not original because it has a snap closer on it. But its a great storage case. Purchased as a group with other items listed separately.

Provided for your consideration is a 1922 Keuffel& Esser 10 piece drafting set. It was purchased and used by a Columbia college student who left an address sticker attached to the inside cover. The 10 drafting pieces are in very good condition while the black leather and green velvet case is dried and very fragile from aging and use. It has been taped in spots to keep it together. The Keuffel and Esser Company was a drafting instrument and drawing supplies company founded in New York in 1867 by German immigrants William J. D. Keuffel and Herman Esser. It was the first American company to specialize in these products. In 1876. K& E started selling surveying instruments and a four-story factory in Hoboken. New Jersey was completed four years later in 1880 with K& E incorporating in 1889. In 1892. The company commissioned a building ... morefor their showroom and offices at 127 Fulton Street in Manhattan from the architecture firm of De Lomos& Cordes. The building completed in 1893 was occupied by the company until 1961. Over the years branches were established in St. Louis. San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit and in Quebec where engineering was flourishing in highway construction preparation for Expo 67. The company was acquired by AZON Corp. in 1987. Keuffel and Esser Telescope W/Accessories and Box-- Awesome!
Up for sale we have a very unique optical/meteorology instrument from Keuffel and Esser. This telescope was produced in the mid-1960's from Keuffel and Esser. Then headquartered in Hoboken, NJ. This is a line-of-sight telescope with model number CN9092-53A. Additionally, the serial number is 172999. The telescope is equipped with the Auto-Collimating Eyepiece and the illuminating unit for said piece. It did activate when I found a plug to plug it into, but I would not recommend it as the cord is starting to fray somewhat around the plug head. The telescope itself is in very nice condition with no exterior wear, metal pitting or chipping, scratches or any heavy level of imperfections or abuse. The optics appear to be somewhat frosty and cloudy and visibility is obscured significantly. Additionally, the glass appears to be slightly pitted ... moreas well. It is not scratched or damaged in any way that I can see, the optics just are not very clear at all. I am not certain if they can be cleaned or improved at all. Interior Keuffel and Esser part numbers and instructions for the illuminating eyepiece are housed within the interior of the box lid. Actual telescope instructions are not present. There is paper loss present within the top left of the box interior as a pamphlet was possibly torn out from the box. What makes this telescope very interesting is the additional pieces included within, which includes a coincidence level, scale holder and a micrometer with serial number 71-1110 being present as well. This is a unique opportunity to own a fascinating and very interesting optical instrument for your own. Please enjoy it for many years to come. It also doesn't have a strap or cover on one end. Black colored The slide rule is in very good condition. offered for bids here is a very hard to find vintage K&E 4161-3 slide rule. Not dated. But is probably late 1930's to 1940's. Edges look very good, and it slides perfectly. There is some slight wear to one side of the sliding portion. the other side looks brand new. There is also some rust on the rivets on the back side. Still, it remains in great shape for its age.

The item works very well and the pieces slide nicely and it is a wonderful piece to display in a cabinet or office. K&E produced these professional grade slide rules in the early to mid-century and they are fine quality pieces. This rule is in very good condition, the color looks very good with very little wear. One end of the cursor has some hairline cracks(see photo) that do not affect the performance of the tool and are only noticeable upon a closer inspection. Rubber feet, and complete original leather strap, with two latches and a keyhole(no key) US Markings: the top of the box is marked U.S. The outside rim of the transit is marked U.S. and the title card is marked U.S. special The transit view piece is clear enough to see like a telescope. But the inside lenses need to be cleaned as you can see several small particles in your view. The pattern is a vertical and horizontal line with two shorter horizontal lines dividing the top and bottom halfs. The metal base appears to curve as shown in picture. I cannot see any sign of trama. May be missing parts. Very good condition with minor surface wear. Not sure what it was used for by the Navy Aero or Nautical or building etc. Marked Aero 1938 USN 352-44. Keuffel Esser Co. NY 87306 Pat. Transit seems to have most buttons level there and functioning. The tinted glass at the end of the scope has a crack photo 9. The end scope glass also has a small mark which may be a mark or a nick measures about a 1/8" This is on the inside of the scope end glass inside the tinted sliding glass mentioned above photo 9. Otherwise all the glass looks good. The stand has 3 legs and has a center stem from the transit in the middle. Not sure if it was on a stand or mounted in a vehicle. No tripod included. We have a nice vintage Keuffel& Esser builders' transit-level. It is model N 5116P and serial# 62373. The instrument is in good condition with some small chips and scratches to the black finish. Optics are sharp and clean. Lots of brass knobs that turn freely. There are two bubble levels on the transit. Comes with lens cap. Metal hood piece, brass plumb bob, original wooden carrying case with strap. Has a great steampumk look. A great decorative addition to any office, den, or library.
