Oh my. Check this out. Gorgeous 10 1/2" slide rule, Patent mark from 1900. Smooth as silk. The rule has a glass and metal slide that has a hair line so thin. The metal is perfect and is stamped at the top Keuffel&EsserCo New York- very cool. The top has a 10 inch rule. The back is awesome, check out the type face. Screwed together and the screws do not show signs of being screwed much. There is a tiny scratch by one of the screws. Stamped on the front and Pat June 5. 1900. The case is black leather, a little worn and has a name or something written underneath the flap. Free shipping.

Offered here is a respectable example of the K+E#896 Key square-pattern/ trigonal compass set. As you may know. The Key series is one-step below" Paragon" in the Keuffel and Esser hierarchy of instrument sets. The set is complete. All instruments are German-made, in full-luster, corrosion free, and appear hardly used, if at all. The case is covered in Morocco finish leather(not leatherette) and lined with high-grade Velvet. This is a 49-page manual for the Mannheim and Polyphase Slide Rules. Written by Wm. Cox and published by Keuffel& Esser, Co. copyrighted 1917. The first 37 pages are comprised of the manual by Cox, the next 9 pages are a"Supplement"by J.M. Willard, followed by three pages of publisher's ads for slide rules and related equipment. This is in good condition with general war to the covers, some weakness to the spine for about half an inch at the and bottom although everything is holding firmly, there are two very tiny edge tears(one on the front and one on the rear, and there is a faint vertical crease from an old fold. Internally very clean, no owner names or marks.

This is a nice older 1950 K& E American made Transit Serial#109632 with Oak Case. Condition: In good working and good cosmetic condition. No damaged or broken pieces. Good clear optics and vernier scales are clean. Compass works freely and all bubble levels work. All glass is in excellent condition. Transit shows some minor wear from age and use, I personally used this transit for many years. Wooden box shows wear on outside of box. Leather strap is intact, there is no key for lock.

RARE! Antique K&E KEUFFEL & ESSER EXCELSIOR 12 ft. Pocket Tape Measure Pat. 1894
SEE BELOW for Images from a 1913 Keuffel& Esser Catalog(Google Books) and Images of the Keuffel Patent For bid is a spring loaded. Retractable, steel pocket tape measure from the late 1800's to early 1900's. Made by Keuffel& Esser, it was called the"EXCELSIOR" model. The metal case is marked, KEUFFEL& ESSER Co. NY/ PAT. JUNE 26, 94" There is also a number"12" stamped next to the tape opening(this is a 12ft. tape) The tape is 1/4" wide and is made of steel with a KECO finish. One side of the tape is graduated in inches and sixteenths of inches. The other side is graduated in lengths equal to 3.1416 inches. This is used to read the diameter of a column without the use of a caliper. Some of the black KECO finish has worn away.And there are a few areas with light rust/corrosion. Reflected light ... moreshows a few areas with slight bends in the tape, but when viewed from the side, the tape looks relatively flat. As would be expected, the tape was less used and less worn the closer you get to the 12 ft. mark(the tape does extend the full 12 ft. When the tape extended, it does not catch until pulled out to about the 1ft. mark. Giving the tape a tug engages the spring, and the tape is retracted, however, it sometimes takes more than one tug to fully retract the tape. The case shows signs of age. But there are no dents. It is about 2" in diameter. I'm not sure what kind of metal the case is made of, but based on similar models from the 1913 catalog, it might be made of German silver(alloy of copper, nickel, zinc-no silver) The case is made to come apart for easy repair or maintenance. This ten-inch mahogany two-sided linear slide rule is coated with white celluloid and held together with L-shaped metal end pieces. On one side. The base has DF and D, L scales, with CF, CIF, CI, and C scales on the slide. The right end of the slide is marked in red: The bottom of the base is marked in red: KEUFFEL& ESSER CO. N.Y. PAT. JUNE 5. 00 DEC. 22. 08. MADE IN U.S.A. On the other side, the base has LL0, A, LL3, LL2, and LL1 scales, with B, S, T, and C scales on the slide. The left end of the slide and the front of the base are marked with a serial number: 9927. Pat. 8.17.15. I believe this slide ruler is from 1927. Original owner has name and address on leather case including the year'36. The slide ruler is in excellent condition. Nice one to add to a collection.

Included is the scriber and the following numbered points: 3233-00. 3233-0, 3233-1(two of these, one is unopened) 3233-2(there are two of these, one is unopened) 3233-3, 3233-4. Scribing tool measures approx. 4 1/2" long and the tubes are nearly 1 1/2" long. The box is about 4 3/4" All are in excellent, lightly used condition. Exact age unknown.
