It has some yellow spots and brown spots on the edges. The cover over the edge of the slide has disintegrated but the numbers are good. Keuffel and Esser company began in the 1860's selling tools and equipment for surveying. Drafting, etc. This antique 36 inch T-Square is in Good condition for its age. It was made in the U.S.A. in New York. There is a thin crack in the middle and the end has been chipped(see picture) but other than that and a few scratches it looks great! By the serial number 2360 it's approximate manufacture date is 1893 or 94. This is an extremely interesting piece and is quite rare to be found in this condition! Keuffel& Esser jig transit box model 9092-1 This is the wood case which goes to K&E jig transit model 9092-1. This listing is for the case only. The inside of this case is in great condition and even has a nice cedar wood smell! The box has a tongue and groove construction. It is a well constructed piece. Unfortunately the wood on the door and its opposite panel has begun to split off. The metal plaque with K&E is missing one of the screws to hold it in place. I put another screw in it. You will see that it does not match. The carrying strap and latches are in great shape. There is a Goodyear Aerospace sticker on the outside of the case. This was purchased from an Akron. OH area location so it looks like this was used within the Goodyear Aerospace department. This box measures 17" x 15.5" x 10. This would make for a ... morenice addition for the K&E collector and also for the person who owns a K&E jig transit. But does not have the original box. Up for Auction(sale) is a Vintage Surveyor's tape A 300' long Metal Tape. Which I did spool all the way out and check and reel it back in with no problems or issues. Every time that I checked the numbers they appeared to still be in good condition and legitable. Tape does have a litle bit of oily film, which may be there to help perserve the metal and make it easier to wind up. Original leather strap is on the end of the loop and held well when I spooled it out. It is made out of heavy duty metal and the wooden handle is still in excellent shape. Made from nickle silver and in very good condition with a few age spots that can be seen in the pictures. The protractor has the center cross-plate or horncenter with crosshairs and detail tangent screw(vernier adjustment) The movable arm extends 6" from the protractor and it is 8" at its widest. It is graduated in both directions fro 205 to 335 degrees. Over the years this type of protractor would be used by draftsmen and engineers and also may have been a tool for mapmaking. Constructed of mahogany with celluloid facings, with patent date of June,5, 1900 on the rule, and 8.17.15 on the cursor. Cursor is glass, and there is an unfortunate chip on the top right-hand corner at the screw, shown in photos. Doesn't affect function. The rule itself is in excellent condition. No cracks in the wood, no problems with the celluloid, only very minor surface abrasion to the lacquer on the back. Operates smoothly. Leather case shows wear at the top and bottom ends on the front. It appears to be a calibrated weight(it is exactly 10.001 pounds according to my'not-so-accurate' shipping scale) And there is a plug in the base for critical adjustment of the weight, or so I surmise. The clamp is slightly offset so that the weight. When fixed to whatever cable or rod for which it was intended, could be mounted parcentric. There is a part number on the wood case(71 6080-10) Perhaps the 10 refers to the actual weight in which case it may indicate it was interchangeable with others in a series. Overall height of the weight is about 10 inches. The case is considerably taller which could also indicate the existence of taller(heavier) weights which would have used a'generic' ... morecase. The weight is in very fine condition with a few very minor scuffs from the inside of the wood case. There is no corrosion anywhere. I don't know anything about these instruments. But I was able to ascertain that it is an Engineer's Transit, and that it was made in 1948. Condition looks excellent to me. Everything appears to be functioning normally. All knobs turn freely. The compass works, the telescope focuses smoothly, and the image appears bright and sharp. The wood box is intact, with no cracks, but one of the latches is missing, and there is no key. There are some accessories included. And are shown in the photos. U.S. BIDDERS ONLY. Flip up sights are 3-1/2" tall and in good shape except that sighting wire is a little bent up. Level vial appears to be dry. I do NOT see a bubble in it. Base of compass is tapped with very fine threads a little over 1/2" diameter. There is a brass fitting screwed into these threads that has a taper socket for mounting on a Jacobs Staff stick. I got another brass swivel mount with this but it does not fit compass so I'm listing it by itself. Check my other auctions. That fitting will ship free with the compass if you buy both. Posted with

We believe for a 38 Cal gun. Marked 1917 Keuffel& Esser Mark XXI Mod 2 807 New York US Navy Bureau of Ordnance inspected CHD with an Anchor symbol by the initials. Original black paint is very nice. glass is all in good condition with the only issue of some hazing. you can see through the telescope and see the object in it. adjustment ring that raises and lowers the rubber tube works smoothly. all the end caps are present. Smoke lense to reduce glare. Not sure what clamp would be but cross-lines might refer to a filter or attachment holding the cross-hairs. AS the manual above states. The gun was aimed by two men the sighter and trainer, who positioned their scopes on the target from different positions, utilizing the principle of optical triangulation to determine the proper range, the distance between them, being the base of the triangle, the length of the two other sides being the approximate range. The robust construction and high Mark number indicates to me that it was most likely made for the military. The brass or bronze construction would indicate marine use where other metals would corrode. Later in the war these devices or manual aiming was the method of last resort. As the navy adopted gun directors, run on electricity, whereby a single man manning a gun director could aim and control the fire of multiple gun mounts from one position. Antique Keuffel & Esser circa 1910 K E Favorite Mannheim 10 Wood Slide Rule 4054
Hello there! This is my oldest slide rule thus far. dated between 1900-1915(thus in the title I split the difference and placed it at 1910) It is a Keuffel& Esser"Favorite Slide Rule" Mannheim variety, made of wood, 10 in long, with a metal framed glass cursor, and comes with it's case. Dating of this slide rule is based on: referencing old K& E catalogues with this exact slide rule in them. comparing cursor type(glass with metal frame) rule part mating numbers(pre serial number use) online collections visuals. The online slide rule museum, and other sources that catalogue this particular slide rule and it's characteristics. In my opinion as an enthusiast. The slide rule itself is in excellent condition for it's age. I find no personal markings on it(like owner names, pencil marks, etc. there is none of that ... morepresent) and I find no chips/cracks/etc. The cursor still comes off and on easily, and the movable slide fits perfectly on one side, flip it over and it still fits but it's more snug and requires more effort. According to the catalogues, the wood the slide rules are made from are seasoned here in the US to help eliminate warping and shape change over time, so I might suspect that 100 years has caused change in the grooves. but like I said, one side fits perfectly and slips in and out as though it were brand new, flip the slide over and it requires more effort but still slides in and out through the entirety. The case is clearly worn and old. it still functions. However the top part of the case lid is gone, and from the pics you can see the age and cracking, etc. Please examine the pics closely to judge for yourself the condition of this slide rule apart from my own opinion and observations. A rare find. This slide rule is in very good condition. The patent number is 2,086,502 and there is another number which I believe is the serial number which is, 461864. The case and rule have both been personalized with the name H. Lacey. The case is in good condition with no breaks in the leather. It is constructed of wood with a laminate over of what I believe to be celluloid.

Gorgeous 1907 Keuffel& Esser wye level with Keuffel and Esser tripod. As complete as you're likely to find. Includes level. Lens cap, mahogany box with leather strap, lens shade, brass plumb bob, adjustment tools, instruction booklet. Also original K&E tripod with metal clad feet, wooden cap to protect screw mount. Serial number dates instrument to 1907. Instrument is complete and functional to the best of my knowledge. Optics are clear and bright, all knobs turn and operate. Wear consistent with 100-plus years of careful use: scratches and finish wear. All superficial, no dents or damage. The loop on the strap that would hold extra length past the buckle is broken, but the main strap looks original and still bears the weight of the box and instrument fine.
