Vintage pocket compass. Marked Keuffel and Esser Company, New York, measuring 1 7/8 inches(2 5/8 inches to the top of the metal loop) Good sturdy condition with overall tiny spots of dicoloration, tiny scratches, scuffing, due to age, wear and use. No parts broken or missing. Hinge is very sturdy and the compass front cover opens easily when the button at the top is pushed; closes easily and securely when the cover is closed and pressed. No markings on the outside of the compass. The compass retains the original instructions for use label on the inside of the cover. The face is in very good condition with a few tiny spots of dark discoloration. There is a small amount of moisture on the inside of the glass, difficult to see. Antique Keuffel and Esser Transit #5153 With Tripod
Up for your viewing pleasure is an Antique Keuffel and Esser Transit#5153& Oak Tripod. The serial number for this unit is 95945 and my guess is that it is from about 1947 to 1949 but this is only my guess. This belonged to my dad and looks to be in satisfactory condition. As far as I know it is functioning but since I do not know how to work it. This transit is being sold as is. The plum bob is steel and has some surface rust on it but I am sure it will clean up just fine. The leather strap on the bottom of the tripod is broken from age so it will need to be replaced. The strap on the box for the transit is still functional but has weathered away in areas. Both the tripod and transit needs to be cleaned as it has been stored away since 1978. This was the last time we used it to build my dad’s dream house. The Keuffel and Esser Co. Antique Burkhardt Keuffel&Esser K&E Arithmometer Calculator Adding Machine
Burkhardt/ Keuffel& Esser Arithmometer Adding Machine(Click photos for larger view in new window) Antique Burkhardt/ Keuffel& Esser(K&E) Arithmometer. Made in Germany. As far as I can tell this is some sort of manual adding machine or calculator. When closed. It's 23.5" wide, 5" tall and 7.5" deep. I've never owned one of these. And I don't know exactly how to judge condition, so I'll mention what I see and you can look at the photos for the rest. There appears to be a medallion missing from the lid of the case. The lid also has some missing veneer. The case has"4950" and"FR" scratched into it in several places. The bottom of the case has significant wear and veneer loss, some corner chips, and two hinges that don't seem to serve any purpose. The entire case has typical scratches, ... morewear and signs of age. Inside the lid. The label shows wear, marks, 4950" and two Kolesch& Co. decals. The brass on the number panel is pretty heavily tarnished. And the rest of the brass shows probably normal tarnishing from age. The numbers on the number panel are heavily soiled. The little door on the left is missing its glass. There are two loose thumbscrews and a loose wood corner wedge, and I think there are a couple other wood wedges missing. I don't know how this machine is supposed to work. And I doubt if it's a good idea to try to test it, even with the instructions on the label. But some of the number slides are stuck or sticky, and the thumbscrews on the number panel don't all turn properly. So my guess is that this machine absolutely does not work, and needs a full restoration or a place in your collection as a display item. This is a nice looking unit with a nice sokkisha theodolite tm10c. The auto ranger II electronic distance meter is very nice cosmetically. I bought it at an auction and the batteries are not good anymore so I have not tested it properly. I did hook a car battery up to see if it powers up and it does that is as far as it has been tested. It does the power up and goes from 0000000. 11111111, 2222222, 33333333 etcetera all the way through 99999999 that is all I tested except the lights also work. It may need serviced I'm not sure. Keuffel and Esser Telescope W/Accesories and Box-- Awesome!
Up for sale we have a very unique optical/meteorology instrument from Keuffel and Esser. This telescope was produced in the mid-1960's from Keuffel and Esser. Then headquartered in Hoboken, NJ. This is a line-of-sight telescope with model number CN9092-53A. Additionally, the serial number is 172999. The telescope is equipped with the Auto-Collimating Eyepiece and the illuminating unit for said piece. It did activate when I found a plug to plug it into, but I would not recommend it as the cord is starting to fray somewhat around the plug head. The telescope itself is in very nice condition with no exterior wear, metal pitting or chipping, scratches or any heavy level of imperfections or abuse. The optics appear to be somewhat frosty and cloudy and visibility is obscured significantly. Additionally, the glass appears to be slightly pitted ... moreas well. It is not scratched or damaged in any way that I can see, the optics just are not very clear at all. I am not certain if they can be cleaned or improved at all. Interior Keuffel and Esser part numbers and instructions for the illuminating eyepiece are housed within the interior of the box lid. Actual telescope instructions are not present. There is paper loss present within the top left of the box interior as a pamphlet was possibly torn out from the box. What makes this telescope very interesting is the additional pieces included within, which includes a coincidence level, scale holder and a micrometer with serial number 71-1110 being present as well. Survey Chain antique rare spool Keuffel Esser?
Not familiar w/this equipment. Believe this to be a reel that affixes to some sort of holder w/ a crank to wind the chain. It's about 16" diameter. 8" side to side w/unknown length of chain. I let out about 60' of chain and hardly made a difference on the spool. Each section about 37" long and there are probably some sections missing. Light rust through out. See photos for more info. Some# on reel and a round tag on chain. Purchased w/a marked Keuffel/Esser small chain from same place, guessing its also a KE. Shipping weight will be 70 lbs. Keuffel & Esser model #5691 Favorite Farm Level
Keuffel& Esser Model# 5691 Favorite Farm level. In 1913 K&E introduced the Model# 5690 Farm level pictured in the last 2 photo's. This level appeared last in 1915 catalog and in 1921 the Favorite Farm level first appeared. This is basically what we see here everyday and you can date them somewhat by the base configuration which has two different components or parts. Where as the favorite is one piece. The other way to date them is the words Keuffel& Esser Co. NY on the scope verses the name favorite. So to the best of my knowledge from 1921 to 1927 we can date the K&E Co. NY and after 1927 to 1936 the favorite was in place. If you collect these farm levels then all three are important variations to the same builder/farmer level. The K&E tape is included in near perfect condition.

Keuffel& Esser model# 5114C followed the Model# 5113 and was available From 1927 to 1936 This level is serial# 56670 from 1930. I found this one without a case but has display stand.Shade, and cap. Also included is a nice 50' metallic tape. Everything about this level is nice. With original condition and very little wear to the finish. Good lens, and strong compass. The bubble is true.

Of all the post 1920 K&E levels I have owned. This one is the rarest of them all. The Model# 5109 is part of the 5112,5114, 5114C and unlike the others had a short couple of years in production. In fact I only see it in the 1927 catalog. Out of that group the 5109 is the hardest to find. The level is in great original condition and dates 1927. If you are thinking of collecting K&E this level is one not to pass by on. There is also a K&E 50 foot Dartmouth metalic tape in great shape that was in the box when I purchased it. Sun shade and lens cap included.

I have not cleaned it other than wiping off the case showing the Patent where you will see keuffel& Esser N.Y feb.2.1926. Keuffel& Esser have made many great things to help shape this country.This is one of them. The leather case comes with it but,did not come with the transit originally. It would have come in a box.The leather case with the belt clip would have made it more practical to use for our service men and engineer's alike. This would make a great desk piece for today's engineer's or military collectors. The mirror's backing is coming off some but, nothing is broken.
