This is a used Keuffel and Esser survey transit level. It is in good cosmetic condition. Shows some wear from use including a few scratches. Movements work.there is one spot that is a crack. It is under the tightening screw for the front element of the scope. Tightens down fine. But see photo. When you look through the viewfinder it focuses well. There are spots visible. External glass lenses were cleaned so these would be on an internal element, I think. K&E Transit Base Keuffel & Esser 3 1/2 x 8 tripod cap SURVEYOR
Very nice K&E Transit base. Tripod head size is 3 1/2. As you can see in the pictures. It's a model P-5136, Serial number 122,409, made in 1952. Everything seems to be functioning, including both spirit levels, a 4 inch locking compass, locking and fine adjustment for the traverse, and the 4 leveling screws. The over all height is 12 inches. Antique? Vintage Black Metal Keuffel& Esser Co New-York Compass with Cord Black metal case closed- measures 3 1/4 inches long. 3 inches wide and 5/8 inch thick. Cord is approximately 39 inches long(hangs 18 inches long on each side with approximatley 3 inches across the middle) It has a brass colored hinge that shows some discoloring but works fine. There is a small plunger knob that stops the needle from moving when pushed down- or the lid is closed. Face looks pretty clean. It is marked Keuffel& Esser New- York. The lens is a little dirty. Especially around the edges. The needle looks like it might have some light rust on it. There is a knob at the front that snap through a hole on the lid to keep it closed. The black paint has some wear spots. Overall it appears to be in good condition.

COLLECTION OF 3 VINTAGE KEUFFEL& ESSER SLIDE RULES N4081-3 LOG LOG DUPLEX DECITRIG 4070-3 POLYPHASE DUPLEX TRIG w/ LEATHER CASE 4055 Offered for your consideration is a collection of three vintage Keuffel& Esser slide rules. These slide rules are from the estate of a World War II Oak Ridge scientist and college professor from the 1940s to the 1970s. N4081-3 Log Log Duplex Decitrig is in the best condition of the three slide rules. It is dingy but is otherwise intact and works smoothly. 4070-3 Polyphase Duplex Trig is also dingy but in good working order. The plastic sides of the cursor are cracked. But that doesn't seem to impair the movement or functionality in any way. This slide rule also has its original leather case which is separated at the seam on the tab closure. 4055 is intact and works smoothly as well. The information ... moreon the back side is obscured by soil and dinginess. I believe it could be cleaned up quite a bit so that it would be legible. But, since I do not know the best way to go about doing that, I have left it alone. Also included is the box and user manual(no slide rule) for a Faber-Castell 57/58 slide rule that probably belonged to one of his children. When he first started flying. He never learned to use it and just put it in a drawer and forgot about it, until last month, when he rediscovered it while cleaning. He asked me to sell it for him on eBay. Condition: Very Nice condition. The slide rule is not scratched or chipped or anything. Looks like just came off the shelf. The case is also in excellent condition, the only noticeable flaw is that the tab that closes the case is slightly cracked and torn from the leather drying out. The manual is in fair shape, considering its age. Its a little worn and naturally the pages have turned, and it looks like there is some water damage mainly along the edges, ... moreexcept fo the first 20 pages, which all have notable stains, and page 123-124 is torn on the bottom corner but not detached. And finally the staples that attach the pages are rusted and broken, so cover and first few pages are detaching. Description: Length of case is 13 inches and slide rule is about 12.5 inches. This was one of the latest of the Log Log Duplex Decitrig family of rules. The rules were made of celluloid on mahogany. The mahogany was arranged so that it formed two visible stripes on the side. Reducing, or enlarging pictures or drawings, and was manufactured from 1915 to 1920. The last two photos in this listing show a copy of the product sheet housed in the Hoboken Historical Museum. This sheet gives a description of the instrument and directions for its use. Only the instrument is for sale here-we do NOT have the original product sheet. We will, however, included that copy of the sheet with this sale. The two longest pair of arms on this pantograph measure 21 inches. The shorter pair measures 18 and 1/2 inches. This is a great vintage surveying transit with the original dovetailed wooden box. Serial number 77122. The lock on the box box works and there is a key. One of the four small feet on the bottom are missing. The transit is in very nice shape and looks greart. I tried to clean the lens but it is still blurry. Keuffel & Esser Architects Convertible Y Level from 1918
Here is a Keuffel and Esser Architects Convertible Y Level. The serial number is 36377 which indicates it is from 1918. This instrument has a good bubble level and the optics focus. Everything seems to function well. The crosshairs are weak but I do not know if there is an adjustment for that. There is a small dent to the degree indicating ring at about 60 deg. I have tried to picture it and it does not impede the function. Included are the original storage box with matching serial number on the tag, a key for the lock which works, a Ruleta plumb and a sun shield for the lens. One of the screw hole covers is missing for the holes where the side post with knob mounts. The box is in fairly good condition for its age and the leather strap with buckle is intact.
