Antique Compo Paper Fastener/Stapler, Pre 1923 Patent
Offering a Vintage/Antique paper fastener/stapler. From my research appears to have been manufactured prior to the Compo Westport Conn company patent date of 1923. An item just like it I found in my research dated it 1921 or 1922. It weights prx. 1.5 lbs. and measures 4-1/2' at the highest point and the longest part is the base which is 3-3/4" lgth. there is one rubber foot missing on the base. I worked the stapler and although I do not have staples. It presses down just fine. Due to it's vintage condition frankly. I did not attempt to remove any of the rustiness and it clearly is not in a shiny"New" condition. Therefore selling As Is. I don’t know if it was a promotional item or some kind of sales sample you would find at a retail store. Everything looks new. Including the shade and the nailer. I did not see any model number on the tool. On the side of the nailer there is a row of plastic discs, these would go under each fastener and act like a washer. It had good review from Amazon but I disagree with their review. If you spray some WD40 on the moving parts before use and use only Arrow 50 and make sure the staple holder is locked in good. Then it worked O.K most of the time. I was able to finish the porch screen job and I no longer use it and I will never buy this brand. If you are on the budged and can tolerate some frustrations.
