Vintage, Walnut Herman Miller, George Nelson Designed 2 Pedestal Executive Office Desk and was most likely built between 1958 and 1963. The desk is from the Herman Miller Company’s Executive Office Group 8000 Series and is model 8865. The left pedestal has two drawers, an upper storage drawer and a lower file drawer. The right side is a 3-drawer pedestal. The"floating" desktop measures 84 inches long and 36 inches wide and has a height of 29.5 inches. The attached privacy screen is in excellent condition. The desk is marked on two of the drawer ... morehandles with the Herman Miller name and logo, and has labels inside of two drawers that designate it as a George Nelson design. All of the drawers open and close smoothly and can be locked. There are 3 keys for the 2 locks. There are some small scratches, drill holes, tiny areas of veneer loss, an area of white paint, and areas of light fading. Holes were drilled into the top front of each pedestal to install plastic brackets to hold electric cords and two holes were drilled into the bottom of each pedestal. Overall this Herman Miller/George Nelson walnut desk is in very good vintage condition. See Photos) This desk easily disassembles for transport. The top can be removed with 6 bolts and the two pedestals are attached to the modesty screen with a few screws. According to the 1961 Herman Miller product brochure the 84 x 36 inch desk top is the largest available and weighs 110 pounds. Transportation will be the responsibility of the buyer. Acquired today is an Eames. Howard Miller style/type lounge chair. I do not know anything about the age or maker. It is stamped 3-83 on base; I did not see any other identifying marks. It has felt attached in four areas of the back of the chair to protect wall. It has two eraser size holes in fabric( it appears to be leather) and a substantial 4.75 inch tear, and a 1.5 inch chip in plywood on back. Signed and dated in fabric. As shown. It's a large piece, depicting a dark orange sun in rust on a light orange background. Incredibly rare and currently not available anywhere else. Silkscreen on fabric(presumably linen) Measuring approximately 52" x 49" It used to be mounted on a wood frame by the original owner but has since been removed from the frame; as such, some staple marks remain. Herman Miller Charles Eames LaFonda Side Chair
Here is a Herman Miller LaFonda Side Chair that was designed by Charles Eames. The LaFonda chair has a lower back than the traditional fiberglass side chair. It does have the Herman Miller logo in the fiberglass. This chair has an Eames Pedestal Base which does swivel. The shell is attached on the base with bolts coming out of the fiberglass. It was a very early way of attachment. Later Herman Miller changed it to the"t-nuts or shock mounts. The fabric on the chair is a tan/yellow color. It does have some light-dirty spots for being 40-50 years old. There are no rips in the fabric and it is tight to the foam(no popping) Because of it's age the foam is not as soft as it was when it was a new chair. Another great piece of Herman Miller history. They have the Herman Miller name moulded under the seats( see picture close-up) just has partial patent sticker at one point but have come off over the years of use. The chairs are upholstered in heavy duty brilliantly colored purple fabric. The chairs are clean and without stains or other blemishes. They have a Herman Miller label on the bottom of the seat. Both are in near identical condition. Because of weight and size each stool has to ship individually. Each chair has four casters that move freely with little effort.
