This desk came to us with a story. We can trace it back to the Canadian offices of Power Corporation in Montreal. Given to a friend from Paul Desmarias. It had stayed in their possession from the 1990’s to mid-2014. This is when we acquired this lovely piece and s et out to all-inclusively restore it to its original natural beauty. This piece of furniture is timeless classical antiquity and fit for an executive with exacting standards. The molding 5" down from the desk top and surrounding the desk is a fine ornamental filigree pattern. Mid Century Modern Jens Risom Pedestal Walnut Executive Desk w/ Floating Top. Double pedestal form in walnut. Marked with label, original finish, 66"w x 30"d x 30"h. This baby had not been a pampered antique. But a desk that looked like it was used on a daily basis for it's 50+ year old life. I had as much damage and wear and tear repaired by a professional restoration specialist as possible without doing a total restoration that would keep the desk from being in original condition. I'm going to scare you with all the flaws and repairs just to be as honest as possible. Perfect for the collector that wants their pieces to tell their history. One leg was professionally repaired with a life time guarantee. Someone had installed an after-market keyboard holder that the restorer removed and then repaired the damage. I tried ... moreto show a photo but he did such a great job I had a hard time finding the damage. There were tiny holes on the top that looks like someone had used the wrong size screws to reattach the top at one point. You can see the repair if looking for it. One drawer has a bottom that is damaged(pic shown) There are dark colored splatter-like stains on the desk in a few places. The top shows 50+ years of life with fading and stains. Even with all it's flaws and character. This is still a beautiful example of mid century design and craftsmanship. It would be a great piece to add to a collection if you aren't expecting perfection. Hard wood maple desk. Great for executive. Professional, writer, doctor, lawyer, college professor. Very good condition. 75 years old. This desk has had two previous owners: it belonged for 50 years to my great-uncle. A family physician, and then for 25 years to my father, his nephew. The desk had belonged to the President of General Motors and had been in his office for many years. My grandfather used it for a few years in his office before they put it in their finished basement where it has sat since. In any case these pieces should be professionally refinished/restored. This piece has been in my family since the 1950s. My father(an architect) was the original purchaser. It has a dark wood finish and white Formica. The white top measures 72" L x 30" W x about 1 1/2" Deep. I need to get the height from floor to top. The wooden cabinet is 67 1/2" L x 26 3/4" W x 18 1/2" H. without the legs. Over all height of the wood cabinet section is about 24" I will re-measures this weekend) The cabinet has cupboards that are accessible from both sides. The"main" side has 1 cupboard. 6 drawers, 2 shelves. There is also a metal file drawer on the right side of the Formica desktop. The file drawer measures ... more15 1/2" x 10" x 11 1/4" Original hanging file folders with metal crossbars(not plastic. Like now) are included. It has the original"H" shaped chrome base for support. All foot glides are present. It is almost impossible to find an authentic. Vintage model of one of these desks as not that many were made. Back in the day. This piece is pre-owned and has been used. So please see all pics. It has sat in a room.Unused, for about the last 30+ years. There are a few corner chips and light scratches on the wood where the two desk pieces join together. This really does not show as the top piece covers the scratched part. We have not attempted to stain or fix. Leaving that to the Buyer. Some Formica glue needs to be cleaned up on one Formica edge- this should scrape off readily with a flat knife/tool. ALL NOTED PROBLEMS ARE PICTURED. The desk is in VERY GOOD condition overall. For Sale is this great Thomasville Cherry Wood Executive File Credenza Desk First note is when looking at the photos please ignore the circle spots. They are dust in the air, I had to take the photos in the garage, THEY ARE NOT spots on the desk itself The desk is in great condition however it is used so there are some swirl markings on the top they aren't scratches into the wood it looks like someone maybe used a rough rag to wipe it down at some point and on the back it looks like it was rubbed against a white wall. It is not chipped and you can get it off, there are also a few minor white spots on the front and the side, please hover your mouse over the photos so that you can see what wear marks are there, it does need a good polishing and the drawers need to be wiped out but this is a solid desk and it weighs about 200lbs, it is all ... morereal wood It has 7 drawers. 2 of them are file style drawers and there are 2 pullouts for your laptop or writing as you can see in the photos. It is also marked Thomasville. This is a great desk, the photos really don't do it justice and with a great polish it could look brand new again.
